FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
July 3, 2001 GOVERNOR: ARMY GIVES OFFICIAL CERTIFICATION TO MILITARY MUSEUM Designation Represents A Huge Step Forward For New Saratoga Museum
Governor George E. Pataki today announced that the United States Army has designated the planned New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center as an "Official US Army National Guard Museum." The official certification means that the new museum which will be located in Saratoga Springs will be eligible for a wide array of financial and technical support from the federal government. "This official designation is terrific news that will provide a tremendous boost to our efforts to establish our new military museum in Saratoga," Governor Pataki said. "As a result of this federal certification, we will now have broad access to federal funding, resources, materials and training that will help us achieve our goal of establishing one of the finest military museums in the nation. "We welcome the support of the Army and consider this designation as a clear signal that Washington appreciates all of the hard work we've done since 1995 to reclaim, secure and preserve New York's priceless military history collection."

The Military Museum in Cairo is famous for its rich collection and historical building which was originally a palace during the reign of Mohamed Ali, the founder of the royal family that ruled Egypt between 1805 and 1952.
It was established in 1947 after the British forces evacuated the Saladin Citadel and was officially inaugurated two years later. It was modernized in co-operation with North Korea and reopened on 29 November 1993 by President Hosni Moubarak.
The Military Museum records the history of the Egyptian army since Pharaonic times, and is divided into three wings and three storeys, each having several halls.
First Storey:
The first storey comprises the Al Magd Hall at the museum entrance which exhibits a royal carriage from the time of Khedive Ismail (1863-1879), the Medal Hall, the Artillery Hall and the Weapon Hall. The exhibits include the development in weaponery, military equipment and uniforms, besides 220 paintings of famous historical military battles and the most important military decorations, orders and medals

NAM Research Guide The National Army Museum tells the story of British land forces from the Fifteenth Century to the present day, and the history of Commonwealth land forces up to their respective dates of independence. Whilst the Museum is an excellent place to find out about the general history of the Army we hold few official records, and are unlikely to be able to provide information on individual soldiers. As we are unable to conduct research on behalf of enquirers, the following is intended as a brief guide to starting points for research. I have no experience of researching British Army records.
