Home Adult Learning Education Education Leadership ... Social Justice Human Resource Management The MA/HRM program focuses upon the practice of HRM in business, government, and other not-for-profit organizations. Courses offer both concept and skill components designed to help students base practice on solid theoretical grounding. Courses are led by faculty members who have earned advanced graduate degrees and/or possess significant experience in the fields of business, organization behavior, and human resources. The MA/HRM curriculum consists of 12 courses. Six core courses assist students to become more effective organization members and managers. Five specialty courses explore concepts and skills needed for successful practice of human resource management. A capstone course provides an opportunity for students to integrate learning from previous courses by engaging in individual projects to improve HRM policies, practices, or programs in the workplace. The MA/HRM program is designed to be completed in six semesters (two calendar years), based upon completion of two courses each semester. However, the curriculum is flexible allowing students to proceed more rapidly or more slowly. Students who wish to enroll in more than two courses in a semester may do so with the permission of the program coordinator. The program must be completed within a period of six years from the time of initial enrollment.

    Introduction
Volunteers are a key component of the delivery system for Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) educational programs. Each year over 50,000 individuals volunteer their time, talent and services to assist paid staff in the development and delivery of Extension programs in gardening, youth development, agriculture, nutrition, financial management, parenting education and tourism. Others assist us in our marketing efforts and as spokesperson for the organization at our state and nation’s capitols. Volunteers provide support in all aspects of Extension. All staff need skills in effective volunteer development and management if they are to be successful in their jobs. This paper is intended to provide staff with a definition of who is a volunteer in MSU Extension and an explanation of the methodological framework for volunteer development and management that has been adopted for MSU Extension.

    History
The Center for Insurance and Risk Management Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is concerned with public policy affecting the insurance industry and, more generally, risk management in society. Funding for the creation of the Center was provided by a grant from the George B. Cook Ameritas Financial Services Program in Life Insurance. The funding is in memory of the late George B. Cook, chief executive officer of Ameritas. The Center exists, in part because the College of Business recognizes the importance of the insurance industry to the State. Back to Top
    Mission
The Center encourages research and discussions that enhance understanding in the classroom, in government and in industry. Policy discussions concerning health, liability and life insurance will be a major part of the Center. Another important part of the Center's mission is to examine various financial problems effecting both private and public insurance. Although a major focus of the Center is on public policy issues affecting society, the Center has expertise useful to those involved in the practice of insurance, finance and risk management. Members of the College of Business Administration, particularly faculty from the Department of Finance and programs in Actuarial Science and Insurance, contribute to the Center's mission. University scholars and experts from business and government contribute to policy debates of concern to the industry and society.
