MI -FOCUS
When the Washtenaw Intermediate School District began its science journey in Goals 2000, Cycle 11, it struck upon the acronym, MI-FOCUS, with "FOCUS" standing for Focus On Conceptual Understanding in Science. MI-FOCUS followed other recent developments of curriculum resources in science, such as MI-CLIMB and MI-BIG, but sought to help teachers address Michigan’s science standards by representing how the science benchmarks might be integrated within particular topics of study. The MI-FOCUS project is K-8 inquiry-based science topics that will challenge science teachers to continuously reflect on the question: "Am I focused?" http://www.wash.k12.mi.us/achieve/mifocus
WISD connected to Internet2
On Friday July 12, 2002, Washtenaw Intermediate School District's connection to MichNet was configured for Internet2 access.
Together with the school districts of Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Dexter, Lincoln, Manchester, Milan, Saline, Whitmore Lake, Willow Run and Ypsilanti, WISD coordinates and delivers services and programs designed to improve education in Washtenaw County.
