Welcome to The Mental Health Center at Gallaudet University
Our Mission The Mental Health Center's mission of service, training, advocacy, and research incorporates a philosophy of wellness that strives to depathologize deafness and destigmatize psychological disorders. The Mental Health Center offers counseling, psychotherapy, assessment, and other mental health services to Gallaudet University students and, through its training programs, to Deaf and hard of hearing people and their families from the Washington, D.C. area. Effective diagnostic and therapeutic services are provided by clinical staff and trainees supervised by licensed clinicians all who are fluent in American Sign Language as well as other modes of communication used by deaf and hard of hearing people.

    ECHN's Behavioral Health Services, based at Manchester Memorial Hospital and also available at Rockville General Hospital and the Glastonbury Wellness Center , provide proactive, specialized mental health programs to serve adolescents, adults, and older clients. The staff is committed to reducing behavioral health crises through prevention, screening, diagnosis, early intervention, and carefully monitored treatment.
    Behavioral Health has evolved into a comprehensive, integrated mental health and substance abuse care system that today consists of over 150 professionals - psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, clinical nurse specialists, marriage and family therapists, special education teachers, substance abuse counselors, registered occupational therapists, and support staff.
    The services are offered in three core areas: Adolescent Services, Adult Services, and the Patient Services Center.
