Meditation
When you hear the word "meditation," what generally comes to mind?
Sitting crossed legged?
Chanting strange sounds?
Tibetan monks?
Indian gurus?
While all these things may be related to meditation, meditation is really about one thing: becoming more intimate and acquainted with your own mind and being. Its purpose has blossomed into numerous forms practiced by many cultures throughout the centuries. Meditation can be perfectly natural. Its premise is based on this simple observation: "Where your attention is, is where you are."

"Calmness is the ideal state in which we should receive all life's experiences," writes Paramahansa Yogananda (1893-1952), founder of the Self-Realization Fellowship, in the book Inner Peace . Yogananda is regarded as one of the great spiritual teachers melding East and West. Through meditation, he writes, one can cultivate a wonderful inner quiet that will melt away stress and nervousness. Meditation is the perfect antidote for the constant intrusion of technology in our lives. In fact, recent research has shown that meditating twice per day for about 20 minutes can actually reduce blockages in your blood vessels, significantly lowering the risk of sudden death by heart attack or stroke. Here are a few tips to get you started:

Transzendentale Meditation (TM)
nach Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Kurzinformation

Welcome Welcome Master Charles Cannon Traditional meditation techniques are a random experience from one sitting to the next and do not yield the promised results because they were developed in a far different world than we live in today. Today, we are faced with electronic and environmental pollution as well as the impact of a population of more than six billion people that is increasingly conflicted and dysfunctional. These negative influences are highly imbalancing to the human energy field, and present a serious challenge to anyone who endeavors to experience the holistic balance, peace and fulfillment that meditation is supposed to deliver. Synchronicity Contemporary Meditation soundtracks are available in the Alpha, Theta and Delta frequency ranges - designed for light, medium or in-depth meditation. How to Meditate
by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche The practice of mindfulness/awareness meditation is common to all Buddhist traditions. Beyond that, it is common to, inherent in, all human beings. In meditation we are continuously discovering who and what we are. That could be quite frightening or quite boring, but after a while, all that slips away. We get into some kind of natural rhythm and begin to discover our basic mind and heart. Often we think about meditation as some kind of unusual, holy or spiritual activity. As we practice that is one of the basic beliefs we try to overcome. The point is that meditation is completely normal: it is the mindful quality present in everything we do. The main thing the Buddha discovered was that he could be himselfone hundred percent, completely. He did not invent meditation; there was nothing particularly to invent. The Buddha, "the awakened one," woke up and realized that he did not have to try to be something other than what he was. So the complete teaching of Buddhism is how to re-discover who we are. That is a straightforward principle, but we are continuously distracted from coming to our natural state, our natural being. Throughout our day everything pulls us away from natural mindfulness, from being on the spot. We're either too scared or too embarrassed or too proud, or just too crazy, to be who we are.

What is
Yoga Spirituality? D
espite its very ancient origins, Yoga has experienced an explosion of popularity in America in the last few decades. Literally millions of people have tried Yoga to different degrees. Famous celebrities like Madonna, Carlos Santana, Sting and even Chelsea Clinton are known to be avid Yoga practitioners. Yoga's recent popularity is due to the fact that it offers a very easy, rational and enjoyable way to achieve deep levels of relaxation and physical reinvigoration. Despite its amazing growth in popularity, however, even many serious practitioners see Yoga as nothing more than a series of powerful physical exercises designed to give one a perfect body. While Yoga will certainly give us the physical health, energy, stamina and strength that we're seeking, this is not the primary goal of Yoga.

When you meditate, the silence of the senses illumines the presence of God within. -from Enthusiasm
by Gurumayi Chidvilasananda No matter who we are, what we do, what we may have or not have, each of us has an inherent power to meditate. Once this power is ignited through shaktipat , our meditation naturally deepens and draws us to the goal of Self-realization. Meditation is the practice of turning our attention inward. Meditation beckons us to unravel the greatest mystery of life that in this human form, we are also divine. When we still the mind in meditation we are drawn, like bees to honey, to the presence of God within. Touching this truth, our restlessness ceases and we are flooded with a sense of our own perfection and divinity. The Siddha Yoga meditation Intensives , in which we receive shaktipat, offer us a unique and heightened environment to launch or deepen our own meditation practice. Then, as we bathe in this state each day, even for a brief period, our understanding gradually shifts. We begin to see that the natural state of meditation is accessible even throughout our activities. We find God is closer than our own breath. We feel the divine presence infusing our everyday world.

Make Poverty History - A Prayer

A Recent Retreat, 2005
Prayer for Peace on Earth Pray with the Pope Something to think and pray about this week:
This week brings the Equinox: night is as long as day, and we are half-way to Christmas. Where am I in my life? Past the equinox? But at my back I always hear Time’s wingèd chariot hurrying near. Lord, I cannot find you in time past or time future; only in this present moment. Teach me to use it to the full. That use may be writing or sleeping or making love or talking or playing or working – or praying. It is no use looking before and after and pining for what is not. The now is all that I have. It is a sacrament, a sign of inward grace. A friend who came close to death said that as she felt God’s love sweep irresistibly over her, all the past, it sins and its achievements, became irrelevant. It is only in this moment that I can come close to God. Begin the Prayer It might seem strange to pray at your computer, in front of a screen, especially if there are other people around you, or distracting noises. But God is everywhere, all around us, constantly reaching out to us, even in the most unlikely situations. When we know this, and with a bit of practice, we can pray anywhere!

Folkekirken undsiger dobbelt medlemsskab. Bisperne betragter medlemsskab af TM som gendåb.
