The Aragonese have traditionally been viewed as proud of family and jealous of tradition. One might expect that such people would have cultivated the writing of history, but such does not appear to have been the case." http://medievalwriting.50megs.com/elephantbook/history.htm
General Medieval History Resources This is a rather miscellaneous category, but then, so is medieval studies. It does seem that people are not putting up web pages on what one might call old fashioned history; the history of the Black Death, the history of the Hundred Years War - that sort of thing. What is appearing is a miscellany of resources for students of history to use. Here is a selection that might be useful or interesting. It is not meant to be comprehensive, but represents the range of types of website that can be put to use in various ways. Medieval Church.org.uk This is a huge resource site for anybody studying anything about the medieval church. Some pages consist largely of bibliographies, others have their own text. Definitely worth investigating. British History Online This site is produced by the Institute of Historical research and the History of Parliament Trust, and contains various resources, of which the most exciting for those into general historical research is a selection of volumes of the famous, and still incomplete Victoria County History. It is set up in a database driven and well indexed format with very plain, and perhaps a trifle difficult to read, formatting. Keep on coding there guys, this is a resource we can all use! Catholic Encyclopedia A handy first reference point for anything to do with the Catholic church or religion. The articles are brief, but authoritative, and provide references for further reading. There is a functioning search facility. It might just get you started.

Welcome to the Saffron Walden Town Council website About this website Welcome to Saffron Town Council's web site. The site has three objectives. Firstly, it aims to inform about the role, organisation and decisions of the Town Council; secondly, to provide contact details and a timetable of meetings and thirdly to publish the latest news and comment about issues facing the Town and its Council. We're proud of our Town and of our Town Council and we want you to make the most of our web site. Please enjoy your visit and let us know how we can make the site even better. About Saffron Walden Latest News Saffron Walden is located in NW Essex some 50 miles from London, but in a largely unspoilt rural area. This very attractive town is one of the finest preserved examples of a medieval market town and is quintessentially English. Within its outstanding Conservation Area you can find examples of every style of architecture from the 12th to the 21st century. The town is close to, but largely undisturbed by, Stansted airport and has excellent links to Cambridge, just 15 miles away.

    Richard Lionheart's sexuality.
This topic also came up during 1998-9. It is one that has been kicked back and forth among scholars for at least half a century. Since the history of sexuality has become increasingly popular in that time, a lot of people have strong and conflicting opinions. The matter came up on the scholarly discussion forum MEDIEV-L in late 1996, and one of the participants, Paul Halsall, saved the correspondence and posted it and some side conversations at http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/pwh/richard-disc.txt
