About Our Program
The role of the family physician has seen tremendous change in the last decade. What has not changed is the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Truman Medical Center-Lakewood's commitment to provide the family medicine resident with all of the knowledge and skills necessary to be a successful family medicine physician in a variety of practice environments without compromising personal objectives. Our program began in 1980 by Tom Nicholas, MD and since that time we have graduated 216 graduates from our program who now practice all over the country and world. We have more graduates in the past 25 years than any program in the Midwest. We have an extremely large active alumni and a great tradition of our graduates around the city and the country.
