Ming Qi Organizing Hangzhou, China Course on Medical and Laboratory Applications of Genetics and Genomics
Ming Qi, a part-time member of the Pathology faculty, and Professor and Director of the Center for Medical Genetics at the James Watson Institute of Genome Sciences at Zhejiang University, is organizing the first annual short course on Medical and Laboratory Application of Genetics and Genomics to be held in Hangzhou, China from October 6-8, 2005.
Daniel H. Ryan Appointed Department Chair
Neil Blumberg Named Director of Laboratories
Professor Daniel H. Ryan, M.D., has been appointed Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Ryan joined the faculty in 1981, and has served as Director of the Strong Health Clinical Laboratories since 1997. Dr. Ryan's clinical interests are in the areas of hematology and molecular diagnostics. His research focuses on human B Cell development and genetic polymorphisms as risk factors for common disorders such as coronary heart disease. Professor Neil Blumberg, M.D., has become Director of the Strong Health Clinical Laboratories. Dr. Blumberg joined the faculty in 1980 and has served since then as Director of the Transfusion Medicine Unit, Blood Bank, and Stem Cell Storage Facility. Dr. Blumberg's research interests are in the area of blood transfusion immunology.
