Most Aztecs were farmers. They had no ploughs for farming so they used sticks or usually they would use their hands. The fields were very fertile because of the rich lake mud and human dung brought from public bathrooms.

We, of course, do not know what the people who lived here from before 1 AD to 1275 AD called themselves. The term most people use is "Anasazi" (Ah-nah-sah-zee), a Navajo word usually translated as the "Ancient Ones." The Anasazi People From approximately AD 1 to 1300, the Anasazi farmed the arid section of the southwest known today as the Four Corners area. Their primary crops were corn, squash, and beans.
