Professional Development Systems:
A Simplified Framework with State Examples
Comprehensive professional development systems for early care and education personnel are accessible and based on a clearly articulated framework; include a continuum of training and ongoing supports; define pathways that are tied to licensure, leading to qualifications and credentials; and address the needs of individual, adult learners. Enhancing a spirit of life-long learning is one goal of any professional development system; similar to this goal, a professional development system itself is never a finished product and should continually evolve and be refined to best meet the needs of the population it serves. Within professional development systems are several interconnected components. These components fall under five broad elements: 1) Funding; 2) Core Knowledge; 3) Qualifications and Credentials; 4) Quality Assurances; and 5) Access and Outreach. A one-page document that outlines and defines this simplified framework is available on the Web at http://nccic.org/pubs/goodstart/pdsystem.html

Nursing Specialties Nursing Staff Development PDA View Full Version : Thinking about Grad School for Staff Dev. 05-01-2005, 07:52 PM Hey All,
P.S. I'm also wondering what the starting salary will be about. And, how is the job market for this type of job? 05-01-2005, 09:26 PM I think that the "Nursing Management/Leadership" MSN is the way to go for staff development. I would think that a Clinical Specialist would be more patient related than staff related.
Kris llg 05-02-2005, 08:34 AM Either the CNS program or the Management/Leadership track could work, depending on the specifics of the programs. Does either one include some content on education? ... or allow you to take an elective or two that would include education?
I've been in staff development for years and got my Master's many, many years ago. It wasn't called a CNS track at that time, but that's basically what it was. But I also got an official minor in Nursing Administration and took some electives in nursing education.
My advice would be to talk with people who live in your area who are in staff development. They are probably familiar with the local graduate programs and could tell you which is more suited for their line of work. They could also tell you about the local job market, salaries, etc.

As specialists we care primarily for patients referred for ENT problems by primary care physicians. We also care for ENT related emergencies. Many patients may come directly to us for ENT care, but if you are a member of a "managed care" plan a referral is often required first. Your plan should inform you of its requirements. Medical News more news.. Your ENT care will be carefully coordinated with your primary care physician. All outpatient testing and hospital care will be communicated to your physician. Once we have stabilized your ENT problem, less frequent follow-up care will likely be indiciated. You are encouraged and welcomed to call with questions and to arrange follow-up appointments as needed.
We hope that your medical care here will be to your satisfaction and will be smoothly and professionally delivered. If you have any complaints, questions or suggestions on how we might improve our care, we would appreciate hearing them.
