    School Fundraising
    School Portraits Fundraising Tips
Welcome to Fundraiser Portraits Francis Kavanagh developed his Fundraiser Portraits program several years ago in response to a number of local parents who were looking to raise money for a neighborhood school. These parents had grown tired of the up-front costs and burdensome time-commitments required by many of the traditional fundraising approaches. Parents wanted a fundraising strategy that would require no money up-front, place minimal demands on their time, and offer other parents and the broader school community a service or product that was desirable, and thus capable of generating significant funds.
The Fundraiser Portraits program has many variations. Among our most popular are family portrait day (suitable for any organization or group), picture day (our traditional school portrait program), and our church directory program
Use this website or contact Francis Kavanagh to learn more about the Fundraiser Portraits program and how it can work for you and your organization.

    Everybody seems to be asking
“What can WE do, besides giving money?”
“Should we send clothes, food, water?”
“Should we assemble a team of workers to help clean up and rebuild?”
“What about providing help to schools and children who attend them?”
“Should we focus on one (UU) church or UUs in general?”
We can’t answer these questions right now, but if we put many heads, hands, and hearts together, we will come up with good answers, great plans, and transformative action.
We are inviting all who would like to join together in a District-wide effort to meet and put together a strategy and an action plan.

Winthrop's Fleet landed in Salem, Massachusetts in 1630, with the first mass exodus of Puritans from England. There were a 1,000 settlers in that first group of settlers. Two hundred died that winter and two hundred more returned to England the following spring. But, in the next ten years, 20,000 persons, most from England and most of the Puritan philosophy, immigrated to Massachusetts to form the backbone of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. And, then, it was over. There was hardly any further migration into New England until after the Revolution. Virtually all growth of the colony after 1640 was by natural reproduction, which is why once you've found yourself a descendant of a pre-Revolution New Englander, you very likely have a bunch of immigrant ancestors. John Winthrop was their leader, until his death in 1649. A man of some wealth, he helped to finance the first expedition and his money fed many of those first settlers in that first year.
