He has been an avid birder since 1964. He started to band them back in 1988. In 1995 he banded some 3200 birds belonging to 82 species. His first camera he bought way back in -79 and it´s still use. Now he has two Olympus camera bodies. He has been a member of WWF White-Tailed Eagle working group in Finland since 1982. Hannu Hautala He is propably the best know finnish naturephotographer. His photos have appeared in numerous books and magazines. I´ve always thought of my bird "hunting" as an occasional hobby. But as the years have gone - pictures seem to accumulate. And I have had the habit of carrying my camera with me always wherever I go... http://www.vvlc.com/kyyroju/birds.htm Hans Martens Wildlife Photographer, http://www.wildpicture.com

Re: Johannesburg - worthwhile?
- 08 May 2004 Reply with quote No, it certainly isn't safe to go into the city at pretty much
anytime, which is why virtually all the businesses have moved out to
an outer ring outside the city. Stay away from the downtown and you
will be alright. I don't know what you like to do, by the lion park
there is great. You can get up close and personal with real, live
wild lions. On Sat, 08 May 2004 16:27:31 GMT, Ann B. wrote: Quote: As a first-time visitor to SA, I have an evening flight out of Johannesburg when returning home. I hadn't planned on visiting Jo-burg, but am considering arriving the night before my flight and staying at a hotel by the airport. Would it be worthwhile to go into the city during the day? What about safety? What is interesting to

Evening Wildlife Watching In Speyside and just want to book a night to see Pine Martens, Badgers and more? No problem. Come and enjoy our famous dusk wildlife! Our famous Pine Marten and Badger hide hardly needs an introduction. The BBC have filmed here regularly (you've probably seen 'our' Pine Martens on TV), Bill Oddie paid us a visit, and journalists from around the world have thrilled to our famous dusk wildlife watching. Make sure you visit too . . . because it's great! Our state-of-the-art baited hide - comfortable and fitted with outside spotlights - on Rothiemurchus, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, attracts Pine Martens, Badgers and other wild mammals in from the wilderness. Though the animals are free and untamed, years of understanding their nocturnal habits has ensured incredibly reliable sightings. This escorted dusk-time watching is terrifically exciting - we've put in the 'leg-work' to track them down so you don't have to. Accompanied throughout by one of our expert guides, who will keep you informed and enthused about everything you see, most evening watches begin around 8.00pm (6.00pm in winter) and, though there's no strict timetable where wild animals are concerned, usually last for about three hours.

Bird Sites Andy Rouse - Wildlife Photographer Chris Gomersall - Wildlife Photographer Andy became a professional wildlife photographer in 1995. He has built a reputation for his stunning images characterised by novel viewpoints and getting close to dangerous mammals. A charismatic personality, Andy is equally at home in front of the camera having appeared on numerous television productions. George McCarthy - Wildlife Photographer
Laurie Campbell - Natural History Photographer

George McCarthy is recognised as one of the UK's leading professional nature photographers. Not surprisingly his work has often featured in advertising and has been used by prestigious companies and organisations such as Kodak, Canon and the RSPB. Laurie Campbell is one of Scotland's leading natural history and landscape photographers, and his own picture library of over 120,000 images is the most extensive of its kind by any single photographer working in Scotland. He also contributes to four other libraries. Mike Lane - Nature Photography Mike is a widely travelled wildlife photographer spending half the year abroad, although his main love is British birds and mammals which are far more challenging to photograph. Part of the year he devotes to lecturing and workshops, but the more time spent in the field the happier he is.

An acknowledged Conservation Park set in 25 acres of ancient woodland within the New Forest Heritage area which has recently become a National Park. Here you will find part of Europe's largest gathering of otters, owls and other indigenous wildlife all in their natural surroundings including, pine martens, badgers, pole cats, mink, foxes, Scottish wild cats, deer, lynx, wallabies and wild boar. We aim to encourage, with the help of our animal ambassadors, the conservation of wildlife and wild places through environmental education, captive breeding and rehabilitation.
So much to see
Walk through the animal house and watch otters swimming underwater, ferrets chasing their tails and harvest mice building their homes on the top of corn stooks.
Wander through the night barn to see the snoring badgers and our red foxes.
