About Us The AFMB is the metro area's lesbian and gay concert band, marching band, and jazz ensemble. These groups perform at community events throughout the year, both in concert and on parade. The AFMB sprang from the mind of Buz Carr, our founder and first director, as he watched the parade during Atlanta's 1993 Gay and Lesbian Pride celebration. Even though Atlanta always had a huge parade, he saw that there was no marching band and thought, "Every parade should have a band!" He then set out to create a marching band to represent Atlanta's increasingly visible GLBT community. From that early start, we have grown to include the concert and jazz groups, while retaining our marching roots.

The 200+ member ensemble has appeared in the Rose Bowl Half-time show as well as the 1987 and 1997 Rose Bowl Parades and was the 1991 recipient of the John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Trophy, which is the highest award given at the collegiate level. Performing in the 74,000 seat Sun Devil Stadium, the band features new musical arrangements as well as a mixture of precision drills and pageantry at all home games.  Hard work, high standards, and a family atmosphere bring a very special Sun Devil Pride to the organization. The incoming student is given an opportunity to take part immediately in an activity that stands at the center of campus life.  Membership into any of the ASU bands is open to all university and community college students.  The only prerequisite is that students have some prior band experience.  In addition to close friends and school spirit, the band offers musical rewards for the aspiring musician as well as a unique and rich experience for the non-music major who enjoys music as an avocation.  We truly believe that our band program is one of the finest to be offered by any university in the country.

Welcome to the official web site of the Cornell University Big Red Marching Band, the Only REAL Marching Band in the Ivy League! The Big Red Marching Band performs at all home and most Ivy League away games, as well as the occasional NFL stadium, and on rare occasions (because we love 110-yard fields so much), CFL If you've never heard of us, hey, it's cool. Hell, most of us never heard of Gus, Freddie Jackson, or Dersk before we joined either, but there's hope for you yet, young disciple. Relax, kick back, leave your shoes at the door, and browse around our cyber-home. If you would like information on joining, you're smart! The introduction will get you up to speed and give you all of the necessary information. The BRMB is the largest fully student-run organization in the Ivy League. It is larger, by far, than any of the other Ivy Bands . Our membership is generally over 200 people. That, along with the fact that we have a general distaste for the use of stop signs, swimming pools, and blow-up dolls as instruments, makes us quite different from other Ivies. We like marching in formations and playing, often at the same time, while the other Ivies (or "scatter bands") like running around randomly and playing, often at distinct times. Hey, to each his own. The members of the band are quite the spirited bunch, and we have a liking for all things

The Auburn University
Marching Band Some other institutions need to give descriptive names to their bands in order to praise them. The quality of the music, the precision of its drills, and the fine image that it portrays have made it unnecessary for us to say more than, " This is the Auburn University Band."
-Former Auburn President, Dr. Harry Philpott For nearly a century, the Auburn University Marching Band has captivated audiences across the nation with spectacular performances. Whether marching before the home crowd or away, the Auburn Band has attained a position of national distinction and a reputation for excellence second to none. The Band is under the direction of Dr. Rick Good and Mr. Doug Rosener. Band members are chosen by audition, and represent virtually every school and curriculum on the Auburn campus. About 75 of the 330 members are music majors preparing for careers as performers or teachers. The band includes members from over twenty states as well as throughout Alabama. The Auburn Band is housed in Goodwin Hall, a building made possible through the generosity of the James W. Goodwin Family of Birmingham. Outdoors, the band practices on Wilbur "Bodie" Hinton field, one of the finest outdoor band rehearsal facilities in the country.

Huskie Marching Band
"The Pride of the Midwest" One-hundred and four years ago, fourteen men at the Northern Illinois State Normal School, under the direction of Mr. Calvin Dart, gathered with their horns and drums in hand to form what we now know as the Northern Illinois University Huskie Marching Band . The spirit and legacy of these first fourteen musicians no doubt embodied the same pride we feel today in our band. The Huskie Marching Band of today is committed to the ideals of entertainment, service, and education. Northern's marching band, as it continues in its second century, is entrusted with a 104-year legacy which defines collegiate life in DeKalb, provides unrelenting support of Huskie Football, and sets forth a proving ground for future school band directors. The Huskie Marching Band has developed a tradition to earn the respect of football audiences throughout the midwestern United States. The band has earned and continues to prove itself worthy to its title: The Pride of the Midwest . It is our goal to perform at such a high level that the reputation earned by those before us may be passed on to those who follow. A tradition of excellence is never inherited, but earned.
