Jay C. Rees, director The "Pride of Arizona" is The University of Arizona's marching and pep bands. Through the hard work and dedication of both staff and students alike, it has built a reputation as one of the finest athletic band organizations of its kind in the country. Our approach is always on the cutting edge, creating socially relevant artistic statements while performing challenging musical arrangements and contemporary, drum-corps style drill design. With over 250 members, the "Pride" includes a battery-unit drumline and award-winning auxiliary units of baton twirlers, pom pon dancers and color guard. Filled with a sense of tradition and enthusiasm, the "Pride of Arizona" provides UA students with a place to make music, new friends, support the Wildcat spirit, and individually grow.

The Marching Salukis perform at all SIU home football games. This year, the band followed the football team to Southeastern Missouri State University for the season opener. The band has also played for the Chicago Bears, the St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis Rams, and President Bill Clinton. The Marching Salukis are under the direction of Dr. Thomas Bough
Membership is open to all. Current members' majors include music, aviation, information technology, education, pre-med, engineering, chemistry, and many others. Often prospective members worry about the time commitment involved and how it will affect their grades. The band emphasizes education and members are able to tutor each other in almost any class available at the university because of the diversity of majors. Several band members have exceptional GPAs.
The instrumentation is comprised of piccolo, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone, trumpet, horn, euphonium, trombone, sousaphone, and percussion battery. Spots are also available in the Saluki Color Guard and Saluki Shakers, who are also integral parts of the band. Placement in the Color Guard, Saluki Shakers, and drum line are by competitive audition. No audition is necessary for membership in the horn line.
SIU students should enroll in Music 011 for two hours credit. Music majors may count this as a major or minor ensemble; other students receive elective credit. Returning members are eligible for a partial tuition waiver, which is typically $200-$275, depending upon length of service and available funding. John A. Logan College students are allowed to enroll for the class through their institution.

"The Power of the Wasatch" Cougar Marching Band
The ground shakes as 225 players in blue and white storm the field at LaVell Edwards Stadium . The crowd cheers them on as they transform halftime into an event in its own right. It's the "Power of the Wasatch" — not the football team, but the Brigham Young University Cougar Marching Band. An essential piece of the tradition and atmosphere of BYU athletics, the BYU Marching Band takes its nickname from the Wasatch mountain range, a stretch of the Rocky Mountains that passes through Provo, Salt Lake City, and Ogden, and provides the beautiful backdrop for BYU's campus . In the shadow of this mighty mountain range, we gather each fall to build a band worthy of this majestic backdrop. The music of BYU's band has echoed off these mountains since it first took the field in 1908 under the direction of Robert Sauer. Today the band is led by director Don Peterson and assistant director/drumline instructor Fred McInnis For nearly a century, the Cougar Marching Band has captivated audiences with spectacular performances, and just like today, the band has always been there to support the school. The Band consists of 225 dedicated musicians from all over the United States and the world, and performs during pre-game and half-time at every BYU home football game. The BYU Cougar Marching Band also proudly features a dynamic and highly accomplished
