The Case of the Final Phase : Chapter 1
Bo sighed and removed his arm from around Shirley's shoulders. "Ok, Shirley, what's up? You've been out-of-it for days and, for the life of me, I can't figure out why." He ran his hand through her hair and smiled. "Hey," He said softly, "You can tell me anything, you know that." Shirley looked into his soft blue eyes and nodded. "I know," She said, smiling softly, "I have no secrets from you. I just have a lot on my mind with final exams, that's all." She reached over and took his hand, and began to walk continue walking, but Bo refused to move. "Bo, come on!" She moaned, "Everything's fine, I promise." Bo's face softened and he nodded. "I know, I know. I mean, if anyone asked me who I'd trust with my lifeexcluding my parentsI'd say you without missing a beat." He took his free hand and raised her chin so her eyes were gazing directly into his. "I just hate to see you pre-occupied, or worried about anything." His eyes lowered, bust raised suddenly. "Shirley, you and I haven't said 'I Love You' since that day you came to Ukraine and rescued me from K-On. There's this huge rift betwwen us lately, and I can't seem to stop it, no matter how hard I try. Shirley, it took us 4 years to fall in love, and now that we've realized our feelings, we never actually express them. I miss you, Shirley, and you're not even gone." His eyes began to fill with tears, but he blinked them away. Shirley's face turned cold.

The bite and venom of the Western Green Mamba can be rapidly fatal (possibly as early as 30 minutes).
The green Mamba is difficult to see in green foliage as its fishnet markings closely resemble the foliage of its habitat. It is fast moving despite its size which can be up to 2 meters in length.

For a man wearing shoes and trousers and living in a camp, the danger of being bitten by a poisonous snake is small compared to the hazards of malaria, cholera, dysentery, or other diseases. Nearly all snakes avoid man if possible. Reportedly, however, a fewthe king cobra of Southeast Asia, the bushmaster and tropical rattlesnake of South America, and the mamba of Africasometimes aggressively attack man, but even these snakes do so only occasionally. Most snakes get out of the way and are seldom seen.
WAYS TO AVOID SNAKEBITE
Snakes are widely distributed. They are found in all tropical, subtropical, and most temperate regions. Some species of snakes have specialized glands that contain a toxic venom and long hollow fangs to inject their venom.

Black Mamba!
By Douglas Lee
Meet the African species that one expert calls
'death incarnate'
FOR MUCH OF MY LIFE I lived quite happily with the vaguely held notion that a mamba was a type of Latin American dance step. I learned of my error one evening beside a campfire in Africa, in Botswana's Okavango Delta, when my host announced that a black mamba had been seen in camp that day but not located since.
A mambo, I was informed, is indeed a cousin to the tango and the cha-cha. Africa's black mamba, on the other hand, is a slender snake that grows to 4.3 meters (14 ft.) and packs a neurotoxic venom that almost always delivers speedy death. This is the sort of revelation that seizes a traveler's attention, and it filled me with a keen interest in the natural history of the creature and its potential for intersecting with my bodily health.
We never did see the mamba, but it prompted me to start asking questions. I soon found that every bush person seems to have a story about the largest, quickest and most feared venomous snake of a continent loaded with reptiles of awesome powers. Throughout a range over most of sub-Saharan Africa, black mambas are the subjects of myths taken for truth and of true tales that are as strange as any myths.
On alert, as when hunting or threatened, mambas travel with a third of their bodies raised off the ground, so that a sudden confrontation can instantly put the snake head-high to a human. A bite to the face or torso or a direct hit into a vein or artery can bring death from paralysis within 20 minutes.
