Sports September 19, 2003 Ice man cometh from Florida to Maine to win by Martha Thorn Trident Feature Editor Dreams do come true. When Midn. 2/C John Bogdan III was growing up in Baltimore, Md., he always dreamed of playing on the Navy ice hockey team. Last year he finally made it. Bogdan began ice skating at age 4 and entered organized competition at age 7. He and his dad became interested in the sport when the Baltimore Skipjacks, a minor league ice hockey team, played in Baltimore. When he was growing up, the younger Bogdan played on two teams, the Baltimore Stars, a youth team that competed on the regional level, and the Perry Hall High School team, which was coached by his dad.

Military Is Consolidating Into Large Installations
Reshuffling of Forces Would Create Big Multi-Service Bases
By Ann Scott Tyson Washington Post Staff Writer Saturday, May 14, 2005; Page A10 In its first round of base closures in a decade, the Pentagon announced yesterday a sweeping plan to close or reduce forces at 62 major bases and nearly 800 minor facilities consolidating military capabilities in large installations that are best equipped to train and quickly deploy forces in wartime. In contrast to prior rounds, this one will produce big winners in communities around the country as well as losers, as the Army beefs up its ranks and brings back about 70,000 troops from overseas, while the Navy shuts down large bases, shipyards and air stations.
The Walter Reed Army Medical Center in the District may be closed and the facilities moved to suburban Maryland.
