Scope of Work for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Solid Waste Management Grant Program Program
The following represents the Scope of Work that the Northern Maine Development Commission (NMDC) has recently received approval to complete. The funding will be available from the USDA after October 1, 2004. Therefore, implementation will begin at that time with completion of the tasks anticipated by September 30, 2005. NMDC will also provide a page on their website regarding the backyard compost educational program where residents can find out where and when the next program will be held, or to ask questions about problems with their compost, or to offer suggestion to improve the program, or find out information about other low cost composting procedures. Staff from NMDC will be available to answer telephone questions, as they come to NMDC. Goals:
  • To provide education on the importance of composting, and to reduce the amount of valuable organic material from entering into landfills.
