Teachers and parents: web resources relating to early maps
This page was created on 18 March 2002 and updated thereafter There are numerous sites offering links for teachers , on the one hand, or for maps on the other. Since there does not seem to be any site that brings together (for the benefit of teachers or parents) web-based educational materials relating to the history of maps , a systematic search was carried out on the web. No responsibility for the content of the sites linked below can be taken by the author of this page (who has no experience of teaching).

Our mission is to empower parents to reach their full potential through support, education and a sense of community thereby reducing the incidence of child abuse and neglect. Our services enhance and strengthen the quality of family life and help parents to become the primary advocates for their children. Description:
We offer parent education and support for families and professionals in York County. Through indirect services that include information and referral service. Parenting classes: Positive Parenting Series: This educational series consists of 20 hours of classroom instruction designed to facilitate an awareness of a parents' role and responsibilities. Our classes are taught by experienced educators who work with parents to expand on their knowledge of child development, age appropriate behavior, communication skills, and alternatives to physical discipline. Parent Connection Groups: These free drop-in educational support groups provide opportunities for learning, sharing ideas and information.
We also offer in home parenting services
History:
Parent Resource Center Inc. of York County, (PRC), is a non-profit organization founded in 1987 in response to a void in the social service system for parent education and support. For people who work with children professionally many years of formal education is required in order to gain employment; yet we expect parents to instinctively know what to do and we are quick to pass judgment when they don't. At PRC we know that being an effective parent is a tremendously challenging yet rewarding job that many parents are wholly unprepared for.
