COOL TEACHING LESSONS AND UNITS ALONG WITH RESOURCES FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS Short Cuts: WEBQUEST UNITS RESEARCH MODULES ONLINE PROJECTS READY MADE UNITS ... STUDENT RESOURCES Some personal notes about this web page: It is designed as a resource for teachers K-12 who wish to find quality ready-made units and lessons for all subjects, or who wish to develop their own units. This page emphasizes engaged learning models such as WebQuests, Research Modules and Project-Based Learning, but links include other forms of lessons and tutorials. Included also are sites to help you build your own units as well as some examples of sources to help students do research.
Some of these units depend on the ability of students to do interactive work with others using technology. However, even if you have one or no computer in your classroom, most of the units linked at this site can be of much help. They are great learning experiences not only because of technology, but because they also involve students in activities that challenge them to solve problems by doing quality research, analyzing information, synthesizing possibilities, making judgments and then creating interesting products in order to communicate their results. Technology can be used as tools in making these exciting learning experiences even deeper, richer and more motivating.
There is no glitz in this page - just links to wonderful ways for your students to learn. Enjoy!

A major emphasis is the importance of social-emotional development, and its relationship to school readiness. ECAP supports research, technical assistance, and service projects. In addition, ECAP collects and describes the literature on elementary and early education, care, and child development.
The Prekindergarten Research in Progress database provides descriptions of ongoing or recently completed studies of State-funded prekindergarten programs, or studies that use State-funded prekindergarten programs as one of several settings for research. Two examples are (1) The National Survey of Lead Teachers in State-Funded Prekindergarten Programs (also known as the National Prekindergarten Study), and (2) a study of parent involvement in rural Illinois state-funded prekindergarten programs conducted by Dr. Brent McBride at the University of Illinois. Project staff plan to add several records to the database each month.

Invitation for Other State Agencies to Join IMERC IMERC invites additional states to become members of the Interstate Mercury Education and Reduction Clearinghouse (IMERC). The states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont created IMERC in 2001 to help them implement laws and programs aimed at getting mercury out of consumer products, the waste stream, and the environment. The State of Washington joined IMERC in 2003, and the State of Illinois joined in December 2004. IMERC is a program of the Northeast Waste Management Officials' Association (NEWMOA). When NEWMOA created IMERC they modified the Association's by-laws to authorize membership for non-NEWMOA member state government agencies that wish to join. IMERC provides:
  • ongoing technical and programmatic assistance to states that have enacted mercury education and reduction legislation; and a single point of contact for industry and the public for information on mercury-added products and member states' mercury education and reduction programs.
NEWMOA's staff provides logistical, facilitation, and technical support for the activities of IMERC. IMERC facilitates deliberations that provide advice and assistance to the individual states for their decision-making.
