Friday, September 23, 2005 Subscribe to "Thought For The Day" Thought for the day... “Why did God do this?” We hear that question whenever disaster strikes. It’s been that way throughout history. IKings19: 9-19 tells about the prophet Elijah. His world was in chaos and he cried to the Lord. God told Elijah to go to a certain place and listen for His answer. First there came a wind. It was as powerful as the worst hurricane or tornado, but God was not in the wind. An earthquake followed, but God was not in the earthquake. A fire sprang up, the kind that consumes everything in its path—but God was not in the fire. GOD WAS NOT IN ANY OF THOSE NATURAL DISASTERS. Finally, after the furor of nature, there was a sheer silence. It was then that Elijah could hear God’s still small voice telling him what to do next.
