Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
An agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry works to prevent exposure and adverse human health effects and diminished quality of life associated with exposure to hazardous substances from waste sites, unplanned releases, and other sources of pollution present in the environment. Their web site features information on toxics as it relates to tribal affairs kids, parents, teachers and communities. It also features connections to an ombudsman resource, a toxics FAQ, a hazardous materials database, a listing of the top 20 hazardous substances, public health assessments of sites on the EPA National Priorities List and other resources.
American Public Health Association
The American Public Health Association is the oldest and largest organization of public health professionals in the world, representing members from over 50 occupations of public health. Their web site features information on the Association’s scientific and practice programs, publications, annual meeting, awards program, educational services, and advocacy efforts.
