    The Department of Social Sciences seeks a broadly trained geographer with substantial experience in GIS to fill a tenure tract position as Assistant Professor of Geography, beginning September, 2005. A PhD in Geography is required, although ABD candidates nearing completion are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both a new inter-disciplinary GIS program and the related Geography program. The candidate will be required to teach a broad range of GIS-related courses, as well as a select number of courses in either human or physical geography. There will be a need and opportunity for the candidate to teach courses in his/her specialty area. A strong commitment to or evidence of teaching at the undergraduate level is required.
