This diagram illustrates the connectivity between ICT literacy and Information skills. The connectors have two functions; the first to demonstrate progression through various activities and the second to articulate the inter-connections between individual activities.
Commentary to accompany ICT/Information skills diagram
This commentary is designed to assist colleagues to conceptualise the training and development activities identified in this model. Big Blue connect: ICT and information skills diagram: top of page
Background
The diagram is based on the activities which underpin the characteristics of an information literate individual. These were identified as part of the Big Blue project which reviewed the provision of Information skills training for students.  The original model has been adapted to reflect the attainment of information skills within the workplace and expanded to include elements of ICT literacy. This is in recognition that the reality of using information successfully, in particular electronic information, depends upon individuals acquiring a blend of skills. Big Blue connect: ICT and information skills diagram: top of page
Delivery
Each of these activities can be delivered independently, but to achieve the full benefit each activity should be seen as an integral part of a comprehensive information skills training package for all staff.  Within each activity the emphasis will vary dependent on the main functions of an individual's post, for example, the priority for an administrative assistant may be the effective use of internal information, in comparison with a researcher whose use of information may focus on specific subject resources with an emphasis on networking /exchanging information with professional contacts. It is important to the success of the training that these variations are taken into consideration.

Abstract
The author has recently completed a four year study which evaluated school library services offered to students with disabilities in two Australian states. Findings regarding staff development activities for school library staff that would assist them in teaching, communicating and providing for the information needs of students with disabilities are discussed. Results showed that there are currently limited opportunities for school librarians to participate in such programmes, beyond those offered in individual schools to the teaching staff as a whole. There is a need for library-specific staff development programmes that cover policy formulation, collection development and adaptive technology aspects of library services for students with disabilities.
Paper
Background
In compiling the bibliography Equity and Excellence I found a lack of library-specific training materials on the provision of services for people with disabilities, and that few staff development programs on this aspect of service run by libraries had been reported in the literature. This situation is little changed seven years later, and if the viewpoint is narrowed to staff development programs for school library staff, evidence of any library-specific training is hard to track down. • Intermediate Schedules - The Weekly Schedule
An intermediate schedule is a weekly, bimonthly or monthly calendar which lists all your regular activities. Example: sleeping, eating, commuting, classes, studying, exercising, shopping, attending meetings, and work are all relatively fixed activities.
  • The Weekly Calendar gives you a perspective of what your day, week or month usually looks like. By completing the Weekly Calendar, you can prepare for tasks that are not part of your routine. As a diagnostic tool, it tells you how and on what you spend your time. As a strategy tool, the Weekly Calendar can guide you through the quarter week by week.

Save a personal copy of this article and quickly find it again with Furl.net. It's free! Save it. Business magazine and newspaper articles have always been full of praise for the "charismatic leader" whose personal energy and drive appear to cause the whole company to prosper. I used to believe that this was true leadership, and that you're either born with it or you aren't. Experience, study, and research have made me realize, however, that leadership skills are something individuals develop over time, if they have the interest and the drive to do so. Being a good talker or having a sparkling personality aren't the traits that are important to emulate. It is the ability to clearly direct others through communicating the vision and plans of the organization, and through developing individuals and teams. Leadership is mostly common sense. By understanding and developing your skills in the best practices outlined in this article, you can develop into a successful leader.

Abstract
In the last half century written knowledge has grown exponentially and a number of new technologies have been introduced recently in order to manage and manipulate information. Engineers students, teaching faculty and practitioners have then to deal with large amounts of information as well as learn the techniques of retrieving them.
The purpose of this paper is to survey the literature in order to determine the perceptions that teaching faculty, students have about the need to develop information/library skills as a required tool to become better engineers and to advance in their professional career.
Keywords: Information skills, Engineering students, lifelong learning, Engineering as a profession.

Introduction
Collection Care activities fall into several categories. The main tasks are to balance interventive and preventive preservation and ensure that the funding for conservation is well spent. Storage planning work relates to ensuring that collection items are stored in the most appropriate location taking into account factors including value, level of environmental conditions required and the frequency with which an item is likely to be consulted. Other activities such as ownership marking, pressmarking and labelling and placing ensure the security of the collection and help provide access to it. The British Library’s Preservation Board meets annually to decide on the prioritisation and funding of the programmes for conservation. Each collection area bids for studio time and resources. The Corporate Storage Group meets quarterly to act as a forum for developing storage strategy, longer term planning as well as specific ways of managing stock to provide optimum services. This work feeds into the business plan bidding process. Staff are also involved in activities designed to augment the day to day conservation, preservation and collection storage work, to ensure that the Department is able to respond to new challenges and keep the necessary skills base. These activities are detailed in the Annual Business Plan.

They must also develop skills in using the library and selecting appropriate materials. Through the use of topical units, the school library media specialist is able to introduce, in an interesting yet informative manner, the variety of materials that are available to students and how a particular topic can be depicted across a variety of genres. Introduction As part of the library media program in the elementary school, children must be introduced to a variety of genres and writing styles to help develop their own interest in reading and writing. To teach literature to children, the library media specialist must provide guidance in how to enjoy, interpret, and evaluate the different writings they encounter (Huck, Kiefer, Hepler, and Hickman, 2004, p. 5-13).
