Legal Ethics Forum September 22, 2005 A Plug for Inns of Court At my American Inn of Court last night, we hosted a delegation from Gray's Inn , led by Master Sir Duncan Ouseley, who shared some thoughtful remarks about the importance of judicial independence and the rule of law. Two students from Santa Clara mooted a contract case against some pupils from Gray's Inn, and two US judges joined Sir Duncan on the moot court bench. I strongly recommend that law students check to see if they can participate in an Inn near them. Particularly for 2Ls/3Ls, it's a great way to begin the transition to practice. Seen by many as ruthless and greedy, they practice perhaps the most ethical of professions. Bound by strict codes of conduct, almost everything they do from counseling clients to marketing their firms must conform to prescribed standards. The Internet is critical to helping not just lawyers, but also the broader public, understand these rules more thoroughly. Here is a look at some of the sites that do just that.
