Specialists in learning disabilities for over 15 years. Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
http://www.rosefern.co.uk
Friday Sep 23rd, 2005 Welcome About Us Contact Us Welcome! Rosefern is a residential home for adults aged over 18 years who have learning disabilities. Rosefern is the realisation of a longed-for dream: to open a home for residents from long-term hospital care. On May 29th 1985 the dream became a reality when we found an ideal location in the spa town of Scarborough. After years of planning and much intense work, Rosefern opened its doors to our first four residents on 15th June 1985. This was a wonderful day for everyone concerned. The name Rosefern derives from " Rose " which is a family name and " fern " to reflect one of natures most sturdy plants that is resilient enough to stand the test of time. We have now been established for more than 20 years and employ around a dozen staff to look after as many residents. If you would like to find out more about Rosefern, please click on any of the menus on the left-hand side of this page. If you would like to talk to us or arrange a visit to see our Scarborough based home, please click on the Contact Us part of the menu.

ADHD and Children Who Are Gifted
Frequently, bright children have been referred to psychologists or pediatricians because they exhibited certain behaviors (e.g., restlessness, inattention, impulsivity, high activity level, day-dreaming) commonly associated with a diagnosis of ADHD. Almost all of these behaviors, however, might be found in bright, talented, creative, gifted children. Until now, little attention has been given to the similarities and differences between the two groups, thus raising the potential for misidentification in both areas-giftedness and ADHD. This digest provides specific differences between the two groups that will help parents and educators better understand and evaluate their children.
