Collection Profile The resources of the entire Harvard University Library system are available to support the Islamic Legal Studies Program. The Harvard Law School Library is the world's largest academic law library. Within its collections can be found material on Islamic law in both the classical and modern periods as well as the positive law of jurisdictions where Muslims form a major component of the population. The Bibliographer for Law of the Islamic World selects material on a worldwide basis, in many languages and formats. Suggestions for purchases are always welcome. Collection Description and Organization In describing and organizing its collections the Harvard Law School Library generally follows national and international conventions; however, material on Islamic law and the positive law of most countries is classified according to a locally created scheme. Records for these items can be found in the Harvard Online Library Information System (HOLLIS) and in the OCLC and RLIN bibliographic databases. Islamic names are established in accordance with Library of Congress usage and vernacular information is transliterated using Library of Congress romanization schemes.
