The LESO is responsible for the policy and procedures supporting the 1033 property disposal program. Additionally, the LESO serves as a liaison between the State Point of contact (SPOC) and DLA for the 1122 Program. Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) interested in these programs should contact their state coordinator and SPOC respectively. Program: The National Defense Authorization Act authorizes the Secretary of Defense to transfer excess Department of Defense (DoD) personal property to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies with special emphasis given to counter-drug and counter-terrorism. The 1033 program (formerly the 1208 program) allows law enforcement agencies to receive DOD excess property. If you qualify and choose to participate, your organization will become one of over 17,000 local law enforcement agencies, which have taken advantage of this unique opportunity. 1122 Program of the National Defense Authorization Act authorizes state and local governments to purchase law enforcement equipment suitable for counter-drug activities through the federal government. The 1122 program allows state and local governments the opportunity to take advantage of the discounts available to the Federal Government due to its large volume purchases. Currently, forty-one states participate in this program.

For the most part, police carry out their duties without public complaint, and often receive praise and support from the public. From time to time however, a citizen may feel unjustly treated by the police. When a complaint alleging police misconduct does occur, procedures established under The Law Enforcement Review Act (LERA) are followed to register, investigate and resolve the complaint.
Mission Statement The mission of the Law Enforcement Review Agency (LERA) is to deliver a judicious, timely, impartial, client-oriented service to the public and to the police services and police officers within its jurisdiction.
