The Role of Islamic Family Law in Preserving
Children's Health and Well-Being
Nurdeen Deuraseh inasanis@hotmail.com a lecturer in the Department of Government and Civili z ation Studies, Faculty of Human Ecology, University Putra Malaysia (UPM), 43400 UPM, Serdang, Selangor, Malaysia. In this paper, attempts are made to study the role of Islamic family law in preserving children’s health and well being by imposing Muslim families to fulfill the major rights of children most notably the rights of rada‘ (suckling), hadanah (custody) and khitan (circumcision). It is thought that proper maintenance is the right of a child whereby this duty is imposed on the respective father, while suckling and custody are imposed upon the mother. However, in the Muslim society, when parents are married and live together, have joined responsibility for the health and the well-being of their children i.e., the father is responsible to provide the material necessities, while the mother is responsible to take care on the welfare of their children bodily, mentality and moral. LAND LAW AND OTHER BRANCHES OF PRIVATE LAW
'Livery in law' took place in sight of but not on the land, and was not complete unless and until the feoffee, in the joint lives of himself and the feoffor, actually took possession or attempted to do so but was stopped by force. Feoffments gradually died out owing to the invention after Shakespeare's day of the lease and release operating under the Statute of Uses; but instances of feoffments were not infrequent in the early part of last century. References to this ancient method of conveying land are to be found in Elizabethan literature: Therefore inclyning to his goodly reason,
Agreeing well both with the place and season,
She gladly did of that same babe accept,
As of her owne by liverey and seisin.
(Spencer, Faerie Queene, VI. iv. 37) Keep your possession, you have the door by th' ring;
That's livery and seisin in England.

For Illinois Home Education Legal and Legislative Matters Statement of Purpose The purpose of our committee is to develop, by consensus, unified positions to present to state school officials and legislators on important legislative and legal issues that impact upon Home Education in Illinois. In addition, our committee is dedicated to protecting private Home Schools from state regulations that infringe upon the liberty of parents in the education of their children. Finally, we are committed to advancing the principle of academic freedom for the good of all citizens in Illinois. A Consensus Decision Making Group In this, and all consensus groups, all decisions are made as a group with approval of all members, not by a majority. Due to the diverse nature of this group, all position papers must be agreed to word for word by all members. Also, any written correspondence must reflect the delicate balance of differing philosophies held by the Ad Hoc members. In the event that the committee is unable to establish a position agreeable to all members, it is understood that each organization will take action consistent with their individual philosophy.
