Otherwise, you will have to either call or write to them or pickup a copy of the magazine at the book store. Updated August 20, 2005 Magazines, like books, are staples of our lives. They provide us with entertainment, instructions for creativity, inspiration and they often set right there next to our be a ds and fiber to thumb through and read before dropping off to sleep. Come daylight, we cart the how-to magazines into our work areas to make some of those delicious projects and those inspirational magazines set next to our favorite reading chair. Lip smacking and eye-goggling reading material set on paper is a tradition I relish. If you want to keep your favorite magazine in business, get a subscription. Advertisers purchase magazine space based on the number of subscribers to a magazine, not the number of sales at stores. It is a given that how-to magazines include instructions and illustrations, for this reason, this information is not included in my reviews. Some magazines change their content over time, for the better or the worse. When I see a change in magazine format, I write new reviews to reflect these changes. I receive some subscriptions on a regular basis and my reviews of those magazines are more comprehensive than those I review based on one issue.

Canadian Rockhound: An Online Earth Science Magazine for Collectors, Children and Schools
Dirk Schmid, M.Sc.
Ryerson Polytechnic University, Toronto
Finding a well-designed internet website with interesting and useful information on the earth sciences can be a frustrating exercise. Many existing websites offer content of little use to children, parents and teachers, or they are poorly organized, or they don't work properly. Websites focusing on Canadian content are few and difficult to find. There is a free online earth science magazine on the internet that is attracting the attention of mineral collectors, children and schools across Canada. The magazine is the Canadian Rockhound and it provides quality educational content for children, schools, professional and avocational collectors, and those with an interest in learning more about geology, minerals, gemstones, and fossils. Subscription is not required to view any part of the magazine online. The magazine is listed on Canada's SchoolNet website and is archived by the National Library of Canada. The internet URL address for the Canadian Rockhound is: http://www.canadianrockhound.com. The Canadian Rockhound was started in 1997 by Dirk Schmid, who at that time was a graduate student doing research at the University of Saskatchewan's Department of Geological Sciences. Since then the magazine grew rapidly into a major website that is now visited by thousands of people per month. In the May/June 1999 issue of Sympatico's NetLife magazine, the Canadian Rockhound was cited as one of Canada's most outstanding electronic magazines. Today, the Canadian Rockhound has become an invaluable source of earth science information for collectors, children and teachers.

This period also saw the development of thriving trade and commercial activity with remote regions, leading to a vast increase in the supply of fine jade from the Kunlun Mountains in eastern Central Asia. It was a time, moreover, of greater intellectual freedom and increased contact with the pastoral tribes on the northern and western frontiers. The jade forms and designs of these areas were consequently incorporated by the Chou. These new influences, together with the development of iron tools and sophisticated lapidary techniques, brought jade carving to an unequaled level of beauty and refinement.
During this period, ritual jades were used for sacrifices, ceremonially exchanged between nobles, worn as adornments, and interred in graves. The most important ritual jades were the

The Jeweler Monk of the Benedictine Order
Theophilus was his name. He lived during the first half of the 12th century in Northwest Germany. He was "the" practicing craftsman and author on goldsmithing of his day. Aside from jewelry and metalworking, he was also an expert on the craft of wall painting, on the making of stained glass, and on the carving of ivory, among other things. So big deal, you say. Right?
Well...not quite. There's a bit of a twist here with ol' Theo. He writes a book about art entitled: "De Diversus Artibus", which, when translated, means "Book of Various Arts". So far we're fine. The guy's literary...and he promotes his works by telling one and all to covet the book with greedy looks, read it thoroughly, and embrace it with ardent love. He's passionate about his work, and he clearly knows how to sell.
When lauding the praises of his work, he goes on to tell one and all that in his book you will discover passages covering whatever knowledge the Greeks possessed in the mixture of colors, whatever knowledge Tuscany had of mosaic work and enameling, whatever knowledge Arabia had in fusion and chasing, all of Italy's wisdom in ornamentation with gold...and on and on...telling the reader how he is able to translate all this knowledge into gold and silver and copper jewelry. The man was clearly brilliant, and had no trouble letting the world know of his genius. So far, he's just like you and me. Ah...but just you wait 'Enry 'Iggins...just you wait.

Welcome to the Mahatma - - Shamballa Multidimensional Healing Network Site MORE CONSIDERATIONS - OVERDOSING ON CRYSTAL ENERGY Excessive concentration upon one of the nerve/energy centres may cause an imbalance in the physical body. For example, an abnormally large amount of the hormones may be secreted by the particular gland associated with that centre. Should this sort of imbalance be noticed, correction may be achieved by the use of a stone with tendencies to normalise those activities. The matter should be addressed before it becomes acute. One possible avenue is to use a grounding stone to absorb any excess energy after the completion of some such operation. Another is to open other chakras, which can recreate a balance by maintaining an energy flow or circuit until the excess can be drained away. The ultimate goal of the student is to expand his sensitivity enough to perceive an imbalance as it occurs and to be mentally able to adjust the chakras to compensate for it. Some specific suggestions for these purposes are:
