LESSON PLANS
Lesson Plans: Strong, concise statements of objectives are always an essential component of any lesson plan. Once the objectives have been determined, the lesson and unit plan design follows. New teachers should develop thorough lesson plans, in part to ensure that important details and concerns have not been over looked, but also because it provides a disciplined and structured way to think about the art of teaching.
...In general, a good lesson plan will contain variations of the following items: *Title and brief introduction of the concepts to be addressed. *Goal(s) or the relationship of the lesson to the purposes of the curricular goals. *Rationale… why are the students learning this. *Instructional Objectives, and *Resources… all relevant vocabulary and definitions, books, audio visual aids, articles.

Where can I find lesson plans for students with disabilities? You can find lesson plans in books, articles, and on the internet. There are a variety of books and articles that contain sample lesson plans for students with disabilities. However, there are very few websites that provide lesson plans specifically for students with disabilities, as students with disabilities often require lessons tailored to their individual needs. We recommend that you visit websites with lesson plans for general classrooms and make modifications as needed. Following are links to additional frequently asked questions (FAQs) as well as selected citations from the ERIC database and the search terms we used to find the citations.

Lesson Ideas This section provides you with dozens of easy to implement lesson ideas that incorporate technology. The lesson ideas build important skills in language arts, multimedia, and critical thinking. In addition, three eight-week projects developed for specific age groups are available in the interdisicplinary category. Before using these in your center, we encourage you to read our general information about activities and projects, especially the article on How to Develop an Inquiry-based Project, which provides an overview of how to construct student-driven projects. Elsewhere on YouthLearn you'll find information and advice on teaching techniques and creating lesson plans. Most of these lesson ideas will work with kids of any age, so feel free to mix, match and adapt them to your own needs. Take into account factors such as the children's age, the length of your classes, the equipment and resources you have on hand, how frequently you meet and so on. Be creative and find the patterns that work best for your kids. For a list of all the lesson ideas available here, click on the sidebar on the right or see the index at the bottom of this page. The ideas are organized in the following major subject areas:
