Al-Hewar Center began in December 1994 in metropolitan Washington, D.C., as a place for dialog among the various members of the Arab community. Its goals were to find common ground within the community and to bring about greater mutual understanding between the Arabs and Americans. The center welcomes the participation of a varied audience, and membership is open to all who are interested. The center does not take positions, nor is it affiliated with any country, organization, political party, or ideology; rather, it invites respectful dialogue that is open to all opinions.
