The map combines the data for these three boat types, classed by major river basins. Loon's mainstay during the winter months is its operation of a ski area. In the summer, its activities include a gondola ride to the top of the mountain. The mountain peak houses sightseeing activities, a snack bar, and hiking paths. Under the terms of the Forest Service permit, visitors may hike and sightsee in the area without paying a fee. On August 2, 1998, appellant visited Loon Mountain with several companions. After entering the gondola house at the bottom of the mountain and reading information about the varied activities at the top, each member of appellant's group paid five dollars to ride Loon's gondola to the top of the mountain. Once they arrived at their destination, they saw a sign directing visitors to various activities. Loon did not charge admission fees for any of the activities offered at the mountain's crest. Appellant visited the snack bar and the glacial caves, and saw a live presentation by "the Mountain Man" (who regaled the visitors with tales of "folklore, legend, and local history"). Appellant accessed Loon's various activities on paths, bridges and wooden stairways constructed and maintained by Loon. Appellant fell and suffered her injuries on the way back to the gondola.

Southfield School 10 Newton Street Brookline, MA 02445 Summer 2005 ACTIVITIES Basic Sailing Learn the basics, including launching, rigging, steering, sail trim, capsize recovery, right of way, and docking Foster a positive attitude toward sailing and a love of the water Build self-confidence and have fun Intermediate Sailing Sharpen the skills taught in Basic classes Learn crew overboard procedures, higher wind sailing, safety procedures, and racing Foster teamwork and sportsmanship when sailing with a crew or in competition Tides and Weather Learn to interpret weather signs, patterns, and prevailing winds Learn to read the tides, tide charts, and depths Seamanship Learn how to recognize and tie basic boating knots Learn to read nautical charts and use a compass Learn proper nautical and sailing terminology Learn to observe and understand nautical flags and ocean markers Overnights Enjoy 4 nights on the shores of Cape Cod at Briarwood Relax and become good friends at the evening fire-pit SAILING PROGRAM Campers are taught theory, safety, and skills in boats ranging from 8 to 22 feet. A variety of open cockpit sailboats are available for beginners. The Optimist Dinghy is a small, gaff-rigged sailboat with a single mainsail, perfect for intermediates and for advanced sailors who want to sail solo for fun. The Corinthian is a 19-foot boat with a wide, deep cockpit and a small cuddy cabin. It can hold up to 4 sailors and an instructor. Corinthians have a full-lead keel that provides greater stability and are especially good for racing or sailing beyond Little Bay.
