Consonants - General Ideas
Grade Level: Kindergarten
Sharing Time:
In a classroom or daycare setting, have one day each week designated as sharing time. Allow the children to bring an object from home that begins with one of the consonants you've been working on during the week. For example, during the week where you're learning letters m, r and v they might bring a book about the moon, a toy van or a race car. If you're working at home, allow the child to have a similar weekly sharing time with a sibling, grandparent, parents group or with mom and dad. Encourage the child to make eye contact with the people they are talking to. Have the children (or grownups) who are listening, ask a couple of questions about the item being shared.
Consonant BINGO:
On a 3x3 grid (like a tic-tac-toe board) have the children write down the consonants you have learned so far. The teacher or parent should say words (doll, van, book, etc). The children should mark off the letters used on their boards. You can use the same activity later on for final letters of words.

Kids Domain doesn't have a section especially for Kindergarteners. It does have crafts, games to play online, things to download, contests, sections on special topics (like holidays, Harry Potter, and Pokemon), and pages of "kid safe" links. Their online games are organized according to which plug-in program you need to play it (which makes sense, because plug-ins can be a pain in the neck!) They seem to restrict their advertising to one banner ad at the top of each page. They also have a Grownups Place, with links to subject-area resources (like dinosaurs, space, and animals), downloads, and software reviews.

Augusta Elementary School Kindergarten Mrs. Hefty Mrs. Lauer Mr. Petznick Introduction
Entering Kindergarten is an exciting experience for children. It's their first big step into formal education. You and the teacher will work as partners in a cooperative effort to provide the best possible education for your child. This has been prepared by the Augusta Public Schools to provide some basic information about our Kindergarten program. Kindergarten Screening
In April of each school year, kindergarten screening is held for 2 full days. At that time, prospective 5-yr. olds are invited to spend 2 days working with the kindergarten teachers who evaluate their readiness for school. The children stay in school all day those 2 days, experiencing the activities they will be doing when they begin their kindergarten year. On the afternoon of the last day of screening, parents are invited to meet with the kindergarten teachers, the principal and school counselor to receive information about kindergarten as well as fill out necessary papers and enrollment forms. Parents need to bring a birth certificate to that session. Afterwards, the children go home with their parents. Necessary paperwork and schedule of when screening occurs is sent out to parents about a month prior to screening.

38. Hillel School Kindergarten Program
The kindergarten general curriculum focuses on the basic academic areas reading, Games, activities, movement and fun are utilized to reach these goals.
http://www.hillelschool.org/pages/ac-kindergartenprogram2.html
Hillel School
Kindergarten Program
A goal of the kindergarten program is to instill a love of learning and an eagerness to attend school. A developmental approach to education is emphasized and children are encouraged to learn at a pace and in ways best suited to their needs. Because of smaller class sizes, the kindergarten program offers individualized instruction for each child, as well as small and large group instruction, when appropriate. The kindergarten Hebrew program is designed to teach the child about his/her heritage and develop pride in being Jewish. The teaching and implementation of Jewish values, such as caring for one another, respecting each other's rights, giving charity, learning ethics through laws and customs of the Torah, are considered extremely important. Prayers, Shabbat, holidays, Bible tales, music, art, field trips, films and Hebrew reading readiness are all integrated into the Jewish experience. Hillel School has a warm and exciting environment. Games, activities, movement and fun are utilized to reach these goals. Indeed, our kindergarten provides a strong academic foundation for future growth, without losing sight of the beauty of being young and having ample time to play!
