Safe kids Online A terrific resource that includes the article Child safety on for online safety, links for kids, parents, teachers, and much more.

Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering The Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education Internet Safety for Teachers and Students From the experience gained in many years of working with the use of the Internet in education CIESE has come to the realization that it is important to balance protecting students with the need to utilize the technology to its full potential. For these reasons, rather than advocating policies that completely restrict students and teachers in regards to the content of their web sites, we advocate the following:
Acceptable Use Policies (AUP) - These are basically "contracts" that outline how students can use the technology, what they cannot do with it and the consequences for violating the policy. These should include school web pages and the content that is allowed on them. AUPs should be signed by an authorized representative of the school, students and parents so that all concerned parties are aware of the policy. No Student Names - We recommend that when referring to students on a web page that either their names not be used or only their first names be posted. Some schools have found the use of "nicknames" to be an effective way of dealing with this issue.

What is a Veterinarian?
What is a Veterinarian? Top Doctors of Veterinary Medicine are medical professionals whose primary responsibility is protecting the health and welfare of animals and people. Veterinarians diagnose and control animal diseases, treat sick and injured animals, prevent the transmission of animal diseases ("zoonoses") to people, and advise owners on proper care of pets and livestock. They ensure a safe food supply by maintaining the health of food animals. Veterinarians are also involved in wildlife preservation and conservation and public health of the human population. Today's veterinarians are members of an important health profession. In taking the veterinarian's oath , a doctor solemnly swears to use his or her scientific knowledge and skills "for the benefit of society, through the protection of animal health, the relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge." Today more than 67,000 veterinarians are professionally active in the United States. They provide a wide variety of services in private clinical practice, teaching, research, government service, public health, military service, private industry, and other areas.

Child Safety on the Information Highway
By Lawrence J. Magid

2003 National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
'Cyberspace,' the 'Web,' the 'Net,' the 'Information Highway'" — Whatever it’s called, millions of people are now going online to e x c h a n g e electronic mail (E-mail) and instant messages; participate in chat groups; post and read messages in newsgroups, which are sometimes called bulletin boards; “surf” the world wide web; and many other online activities. Children are no exception in fact they are more likely to be online than adults. Personal computers are no longer the only method used for accessing the Internet. Children can go online from personal computers at home, a friend’s house, in school, a library, club, or cafe. Many game consoles can be connected to the Internet and used for chatting and other online interaction. It is also possible to access the Internet on mobile devices such as cellular telephones and other handheld devices. In other words children don’t have to be in the company of responsible adults to use the Internet. To get online you can sign up with an Internet Service Provider (ISP), which will provide you with access to web sites and other areas of the Internet. Most people get online by using a modem to connect their computer to a telephone line but an increasing number of families are using high-speed broadband connections such as Direct Subscriber Line (DSL) or cable modems. Most cellular telephones sold today come with a web browser, E-mail, and some form of instant or “short” messaging system (SMS).
