Internet Sites for Kids, Parents, Teachers, Librarians, and the Young at Heart By now, there are innumerable sites that are explicitly dedicated to Internet hypertext links for children. For this page, we periodically travel down some of these digital paths (we actually go to the sites and get a feel for what they're like) and we try to highlight landmarks in a handful of areas. The newest links are at the top of each category. We try to test the links regularly; but, if you find a "dead" link, please let the ODL Web Team know. This page was last updated on March 22, 2004.
We encourage you to treat this page as your point of departure for a journey. As intrepid travelers (please see our Internet Policy ), have fun, and don't forget to bookmark your new discoveries.
In honor of 2002's Summer Reading Program "Books Ahoy!" we've included the website of the United States Navy Band . The site includes a couple of full-length songs ( MP3 files ) that are a lot of fun.

IUCAA's Public Outreach Programme is aimed at
School students, General Public
and Amateur Astronomers Pulatsya - IUCAA's Children's Science Centre
The Centre was inaugurated by Prof. Yashpal on 12th June 2004. The money for the building came from a grant from Smt. Sunita Deshpande (wife of late Pu. La. Deshpande). Every day 50 children from one particular school come to the centre and spend 4 hours making "action" toys that spin, fly, whistle, jump, and hop. Children fold a dozen different caps using old newspapers. They learn geometry by paper folding. The ability to improvise experiments with almost zero-cost, holds great promise in this resource-starved country. The message is loud and clear - school kids can do great science with little money. After all, the student's mind is the most expensive piece of equipment involved!
1000 students (from a 100-odd schools) come every 2nd and 4th Saturday for a Popular Science Lecture. These lectures have been in vogue for the past 10 years. The lectures are supplemented with demonstrations and slides.
Public Lectures IUCAA periodically invites eminent scientists to deliver public lectures. These lectures are very popular with the science-savvy people of Pune.
