See other maps by Karl Smith: Indiana North Carolina Art Deco period pictorial map of the State of Kentucky. Important sites illustrated within the map. Landmarks and historical events illustrated in panels in the border. Decorated with a few bars of the song, "My Old Kentucky Home" in the top center; the state bird, the cardinal, in the upper right corner; and a cartouche incorporating the state seal in the upper left corner. A caption below the state seal gives a few facts about the state's history and its nickname, "The Bluegrass State." The map also includes a short history timeline from 1543 to 1835.
In the 1930s and 1940s, the Speed Art Museum (then the J.B. Speed Art Museum) in Louisville, Kentucky, commissioned Karl Smith to make a series of pictorial maps of the states. We also offer Karl Smith's map of Indiana
