In the Great Commission and in the prophecies, Jesus said that "the gospel must be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations - and then the end will come". Matthew 24: 14; Matthew 28: 19
In the last days, prophecy predicts the spread of this gospel.
And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people. - Revelation 14: 6. We have several barriers to meeting this challenge. But God is providing a way to meet them.
    • Language - With over 6,500 languages the task seems impossible. Each aspect of a language poses a unique set of problems. This confines us to producing material by population size.
      • Spoken Language - There is a problem with dialects, pronounciation and the availability of qualified people to teach the gospel. Also, a single written word can have several meanings depending on the tone used to pronounce the word.

    TOGOLESE POLITICAL FACTS
    Togo Background:
French Togoland became Togo in 1960. General Gnassingbe EYADEMA, installed as military ruler in 1967, is Africa's longest-serving head of state. Despite the facade of multiparty elections instituted in the early 1990s, the government continues to be dominated by President EYADEMA, whose Rally of the Togolese People (RPT) party has maintained power almost continually since 1967. In addition, Togo has come under fire from international organizations for human rights abuses and is plagued by political unrest. Most bilateral and multilateral aid to Togo remains frozen.

(Source: U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, World Factbook 2003) Through the help of The Carter Center, Togo has dramatically reduced the incidence of Guinea worm disease. Building Hope
Encompassing six different geographic regions and home to 37 different African tribes, Togo is a diverse nation with health concerns that are universally shared by its people. Since 1992, The Carter Center has been working with the Togolese people (Ewa, Mina, and Kabre alike) to build a healthier, more prosperous future through agricultural development and Guinea worm disease eradication. Eradicating Guinea Worm Current Status: Endemic
Indigenous cases reported in 2004: In 1992, the national Guinea Worm Eradication Program in Togo began its first search for cases of Guinea worm disease and found more than 10,300 cases of infection. Since then, The Carter Center has worked with the national program to reduce the incidence of Guinea worm disease to a reported 232 cases in 2004. Togo is currently the sixth most endemic country for Guinea worm disease in the world. Togo is the size of the U.S. state of West Virginia, making the short distance between Guinea worm disease endemic and nonendemic areas a concern for eradication efforts. Nine of the nation's 30 districts are endemic to the disease. Among the most endemic areas are the districts of Haho and Ogou in the south and Sotouboua, Bassar and Keren in the north. Together, these districts reported 67 percent of all cases in 2004.

Togo Plants and Animal Back to Top Mangrove swamps are found in the coastal regions of Togo, and tropical forests occur in the southwest. Savanna vegetation, predominates in the rest of the nation. Crocodiles and hippopotamuses are found in the rivers. Large mammals are limited mostly to the north and include buffalo, antelope, lion, and deer. Various species of monkeys and snakes are common. Togo Communications Back to Top

Togo Culture Back to Top Like other African peoples, the Togolese have a strong oral tradition. Little has been done, to promote vernacular literature. Before freedom there were a few Togolese writers using French. Since freedom, regional literature emerged with the works of several novelists and playwrights. Founded in 1967, the African Ballet of Togo has aimed at popularizing the finest orthodox dances. Togo is a leading world producer of phosphates, which are by far the nation’s most remarkable mineral product. In 1999, 1.7 million metric tons of phosphate rock were mined. Industrial activity is limited but growing. The leading manufactures include cement, flour, palm oil, cotton textiles, beverages, and soap.
