83. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH
French, italian and Spanish are modern languages and are therefore taught with the composition and advanced reading comprise the rest of the curriculum.
http://www.southcountry.org/HIGHSCHOOL/hsdept-lang.htm
LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH (LOTE)
Following the mandate of the Regents Action Plan, all students in South Country Schools begin LOTE in the seventh grade and may begin another language at any time in the High School; however, the longest possible sequence is recommended in order to achieve conversational proficiency in any language. For those students who have the ability and the time available, a third language is recommended. In the adventure of learning second and third languages students learn about foreign cultures. This expands their mental concepts in terms of new grammatical relationships, ways and means of expressing view points concerning the world around them and an appreciation of the ways other people think and live. All of these are experiences that enhance a student's understanding and appreciation of his/her own culture. French, Italian and Spanish are modern languages and are therefore taught with the major emphasis on oral communication. There is less stress on reading and writing especially in Level I. Levels II, III, IV, and V are taught

Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Revised Explicit Syllabus Why Study Spanish? Spanish is one of the most common languages in the world. It is spoken by more than 300 million people in 22 countries. It is the official language of Spain and most of Latin America and it is widely spoken in other countries, including the U.S.A where there are 27 million Spanish-speaking people. Both culturally and economically, we Canadians are more and more closely bound to the Hispanic world. Many people study Spanish to be able to communicate in the language. Whether it’s for a trip to Mexico, a business engagement in Argentina or Chile, work with an international agency or just to talk with new friends, the ability to speak and understand Spanish will open doors to new and exciting opportunities. You can use the skills you develop in our Spanish B.A programme to travel abroad and to take university and other professional courses at Spanish and Latin-American institutions. You can even transfer these skills to the study of other languages and cultures. If you are specializing in a discipline such as Linguistics, Anthropology, History, Management or Political Science, the ability to communicate in Spanish is a very useful addition to your personal and professional skills.

after some day of deep immersion in the nice world of our community, I understand that an incredible mix of really expert and educated musicians is living together with talented amators and hobbists.
I was maybe (no,...certainly..;-)) a better teacher than composer (because of very good results of my pupils), but I'm sure that somebody else here is available to partecipate.
What do you think about? ;) trentpmcd 03-07-2005, 03:30 PM It sounds like a great idea. I’m assuming you would mean off-line (like e-mails, instant messaging, etc.). It might not be as good as face-to-face, but it could work.
That is, it would work if people are willing to give the time to somebody they have never met except for on-line. I would volunteer to help but I would be signing up as a student, not an instructor/mentor. Fabio 03-07-2005, 03:36 PM It sounds like a great idea.
