Mahdi Varmazyari and Safar Shah-Hassanlou were found guilty of murdering Asghar Kasebi and Bairam Rezazadeh, two bank tellers, during a March 31 robbery, IRNA said. The agency said the two were sentenced to death by a local court in Maku, a town near the Turkish border in northwestern Iran and the sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court. It did not say when they were sentenced. IRNA provided no further details. Iran's rare public executions usually are carried out in a square or at a major intersection. Iran executes rapists, drug traffickers and murderers.
