Connecting Technology to Teaching
JU is taking a long-range look at how millions of dollars in recent technology investments will affect the University's education process.

Millions of dollars in technology investments during the last three years are beginning to dramatically change the educational process at Jacksonville University. And the evidence is not just in Computer Science Engineering classes anymore. Professors in a variety of academic disciplines are creatively integrating technology to improve their pedagogy.
  • Dr. John Garrigus is using the Internet and computer mapping software to teach French history. Instead of writing term papers last year, his students created and published maps on the World Wide Web that illustrated and explained historical processes and events. Dr. Douglas Hazzard pushed students to connect book-learnig to what they discovered about Mexico on the Web in his Contemporary World Studies course last year. He graded students on how well they used the Internet
to research contemporary issues and how they discussed those topics in class and during on-line discussions.
