For example, a lesson plan dealing with archaeology is automatically dealing with an anthropological subject. A lesson plan dealing with indigenous people is also automatically dealing with anthropology and any of them may, or may not, be dealing with history or ancient civilizations. While every attempt will be made to keep the topic lines as 'clean' as possible, be aware this may not always be possible. Appropriate grade or age levels are included with the lesson plans. The number of lesson plans available online for this topic is enormous. This site can not and does not index all lesson resources. That would be impossible, as sites appear and disappear with astonishing rapidity. The following provides some idea of what is available and will hopefully be a good starting point. The lesson ideas build important skills in language arts, multimedia, and critical thinking. In addition, three eight-week projects developed for specific age groups are available in the interdisicplinary category. Before using these in your center, we encourage you to read our general information about activities and projects, especially the article on How to Develop an Inquiry-based Project, which provides an overview of how to construct student-driven projects. Elsewhere on YouthLearn you'll find information and advice on teaching techniques and creating lesson plans. Most of these lesson ideas will work with kids of any age, so feel free to mix, match and adapt them to your own needs. Take into account factors such as the children's age, the length of your classes, the equipment and resources you have on hand, how frequently you meet and so on. Be creative and find the patterns that work best for your kids. For a list of all the lesson ideas available here, click on the sidebar on the right or see the index at the bottom of this page. The National Teacher Training Institute (NTTI) is the centerpiece of a year-long professional development program which arms teachers with the skills they need to effectively incorporate technology into their teaching. NTTI begins with the selection of master teachers to participate in intensive teacher training designed for K-12 educators in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Master teachers culminate their training by sharing their learning experiences with colleagues at yearly Institutes held in participating Education Service Districts. The Institutes follow standards from such institutions as the U.S. Department of Education, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Science Teachers Association, the National Council of Teachers of English and the National Center for History in the Schools, demonstrating a variety of technology-based, hands-on learning experiences.

Where can I find lesson plans for students with disabilities? You can find lesson plans in books, articles, and on the internet. There are a variety of books and articles that contain sample lesson plans for students with disabilities. However, there are very few websites that provide lesson plans specifically for students with disabilities, as students with disabilities often require lessons tailored to their individual needs. We recommend that you visit websites with lesson plans for general classrooms and make modifications as needed. This FAQ contains internet resources for lesson plans, and also contains citations from the ERIC database for resources with sample lesson plans. Following are links to additional frequently asked questions (FAQs) as well as selected citations from the ERIC database and the search terms we used to find the citations.

Interdisciplinary Units American teachers have begun to incorporate history into their literature units. The thematically driven curriculum standards are now falling in line behind the theory that combining the two curricula makes for meaningful learning experiences for students. The units below address the history of American segregation within the context of great works of American literature. This unfortunate period of American history played instrumental roles in a broad spectrum of significant writing from both the 19th and 20th centuries. Check out ExxonMobil Masterpiece Theatre's American Collection website at pbs.org for additional teacher information Lesson Plans: All lesson plans are available to print as Adobe PDF files. This interdisciplinary unit centers on Alice Walker's novel, The Color Purple . Providing lessons for students to research the history, learn about the author's background, develop their geography skills, and interact in discussion sessions, this unit is a complete course of study that you can use either as a whole or in parts. Because of the book's subject matter, this unit is recommended for high school students
