Infertility and Reproductive Medicine - The Center for Reproductive Medicine
Introduction
The Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) at the Brigham and Women's Hospital is made up of academic physicians, embryologists, nurses, social workers, physician care assistants, secretaries, and other administrative personnel whose core mission is to help couples, through infertility and reproductive medicine, to build healthy families in a fulfilling working environment that is conducive to innovative research and teaching.  The CRM prides itself on its outstanding clinical services and its team approach to patient care.  In 2003 two of our physicians, Drs. Robert L. Barbieri and Janis H. Fox, were recognized by Boston Magazine as among the "Best Docs" for infertility.
Infertility Treatments and Services Include:
  • A full range of infertility services, including ovulation induction with gonadotropins, intrauterine inseminations, inseminations with donor sperm, in vitro fertilization, ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection), and assisted hatching. The opportunity to do assisted reproduction technology (ART) treatments at BWH and at convenient suburban satellite locations.  On site medical treatment is available at South Shore Hospital, North Shore Medical Center/Salem Hospital, Milford Hospital, and Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire.  With Vincent Gynecology, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology, at Massachusetts General Hospital, we have established a jointly managed satellite program at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

The World Health Organization (WHO), the health branch of the United Nations, lists more than 40 conditions for which acupuncture is effective and infertility is one of them. One controlled study comparing the effectiveness of placebo, prednisone and herbal therapy in treating anti-sperm antibody problems found the herbal treatment to be more than twice as effective as the prednisone. The Archives of Andrology reported that acupuncture helped increase sperm motility and raised sperm count.
