Superintendent and School Board Members Welcome Students, Parents, Teachers, and Support Staff Back to School - Go to video messages River Oaks Elementary School
Welcomes Dr. Walts The wee Dolphins at River Oaks Elementary School knew something was up this morning. Their teachers were more excited than usual. At a school where the energy level is always high, moving up an octane was a big deal. The reason: a celebrity visitor! When Schools Superintendent Steve Walts arrived in the front office, Karen Hammack, the bookkeeper, welcomed and greeted him with a River Oaks emblem. For many of the staff, this is the second time they have seen the new Superintendent, who began his tenure on July 1, 2005.

NOT whether quantitative, hypothesis-driven research methods are more powerful than descriptive methodologies embodied in ethnographic studies, case histories, or classroom observation studies. Recruitment and retention of principals and teaching staff
Staffing and financial supports provided to individual schools through a range of schemes and programmes will be brought together and channelled to schools participating in the SSP through the new integrated framework. Supports will be streamlined on a phased basis. For example, HSCL services will be rolled out to all urban/town primary schools and second-level schools participating in the SSP, and not already in receipt of these services, over the school years 2005/2006 and 2006/2007. Maximum class sizes will be reduced to 20:1 in all junior classes (junior infants through 2nd class) and 24:1 in all senior classes (3rd class through 6th class) for the 150 urban/town primary schools with the highest concentrations of disadvantage.
