Hunter Education In order to purchase a hunting license, anyone born after 1986 must successfully complete a hunter education class offered by the DNR. Hunters certified in another state or Canada can also present a card or certificate and purchase an Indiana hunting license.
The DNR hunter education program teaches hunter responsibility and ethics, wildlife conservation and management, firearms safety, wildlife identification, game care, survival and first aid. Hunter education is not just for kids and not just for hunters. The program is for all Hoosiers who enjoy the outdoors and have an interest in conservation. The course can also be an excellent refresher for veteran hunters.

Transfer Tuition: Revisions to the State Board of Education Regulations and Revisions to the Transfer Tuition Forms TO: All Superintendents FROM: Kevin C. McDowell, General Counsel DATE: February 27, 1998 Please share the following with the principals in your high schools. The Indiana State Board of Education has revised its regulations at 511 IAC 1-6 with respect to transfer tuition (see attached). The revised rule has two (2) notable changes:
  • A request for transfer must be made in writing to the Transferor School Corporation (the school corporation of legal settlement of the student) by April 1 st preceding the school year for which the transfer is sought. Former provisions required such transfer requests to be made by the first day of the school year for which the transfer was sought. Transfers can be granted where the Transferor School Corporation is not fully accredited.
Because of the rule changes, the Transfer Tuition forms and instruction sheet have been revised. The State Board of Education requested that the forms and instructions be clearer in providing direction to parents and school corporations. The revised four-page form along with the revised two-page instruction sheet can be obtained from the Legal Section by calling 317-232-6676. The State Board of Education has also directed the Legal Section to provide revised copies of the Transfer Tuition Request Application and Instructions to all applicants for Transfer Tuition from the past two (2) years.
