Apple Tree Theatre Company is the newest activity of the Performing Arts Workshop. Our first production, 'Finian's Rainbow", was seen by over 2,000 people and was well received in the community. Apple Tree's open auditions offer our students and others performance opportunities in a broader, more professional setting. Apple Tree Theatre Company provides quality family theatre for the entire community! The Performing Arts Workshop staff serves as a resource personnel in the arts to local community groups, park districts, and school systems, presenting in-service consultation and workshop programs for teachers and students. We also serve as a consulting theatrical production team and can provide original scripts, music, choreography, musical arrangements or staging assistance for community theatre and school musical productions. Students come to us for a variety of reasons . . . Some wish to become the "triple threat" of the theatre: one who has mastered all the skills—acting, singing and dancing! Some want simply to gain the confidence to participate in various projects with their peers, while others want to be in a creative and spontaneous activity that is fun!

Course Catalog Performing Arts Performing Arts At Cushing, excellence in the performing arts is fostered by identifying and connecting a sense of purpose and responsibility specific to each process and performance. The Performing Arts Department believes that the study and development of artistic structure and technique help to clarify the expression of one's message. In the disciplines of dance, theatre and music, each class seeks to challenge each student individually, no matter the level of experience. Those students whose skills are so advanced or unique as to require individualized attention and/or further in-depth study are afforded the opportunity to pursue their craft on an independent study basis. Cushing Academy's music facilities include a six-station music lab equipped with state of the art keyboards, computers, and software. In addition, the school maintains an 18-track digital recording studio with CD burning and duplicating capabilities. This technology affords students the opportunity to write, edit, save, and print electronic music scores, practice and complete ear training exercises, experience interactive musical examples and terms, explore music history, and write, record, and burn a CD of completed work. Each student enrolled in a music course at Cushing will have access to the lab for in-class work, class assignments, and/or portfolio.

OVERVIEW Our mission at the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts is to engage the artist within each of us and apply the principles of aesthetic education. At the performing arts school we provide children, teens and adults with classes by professional teaching artists who incorporate training for the actor with fun and rigorous exercises and theatrical experiences.
* The JMCA's Summer Performing Arts Camp will consist of comprehensive training for the student artist with both full-day (9-3) performing arts programs and special afternoon workshop options 3:15-5:30 pm. Before and after camp "extended care" will be offered at an additional fee. * All of our programs are open to new and returning students from grades 3-12 (entering grade in September 2000). * Each two week session is new and different and will focus on providing students with fun and challenging acting, singing, movement and dance studio experiences. * All of the sessions progress sequentially - building in complexity and scope.
