Educators Performing Arts The goal of the Performing Arts Department is to introduce students to the discipline and the creative process of the performing arts. We stress ensemble work in our classes and productions, creating a trusting environment, which allows students to free their imaginations and develop self-confidence and spontaneity. Classes are designed to help students develop their skills and bring them to performance level so that each student is able find and articulate their artistic voice in a realized production. Our classes accommodate students with no performing experience as well as those interested in pursuing performing arts professionally. Performing Arts Courses Acting I focuses on the basic skills needed by the actor for application in performance including: concentration, observation, sense memory, script analysis, character development and dramatic action. In addition we study improvisation and basic rehearsal techniques. We create an environment where students can trust and support one another. Students explore different ways of freeing their creativity and using their bodies; they become aware of their own mannerisms and develop greater ease in front of a group. We focus on the individual's imagination and group interaction. Each student participates in rehearsal and performance of a monologue or scene study project presented to and critiqued by the members of the class. Acting II: Comedy/Popular Theatre

    Jeanette Clarke
Made in Sunderland. Forged near the Fulwell End of Roker Park. Tempered by a Performance Arts Course in Choreography in the bosom of Middlesex University. Decimated by unmentionable years in an office. Excited by a decade as a semi-pro in the Tavistock Rep (Babes In The Wood to Berkoff) and... eventually... spat out, quivering, into the pulsating lap of Big Wednesday. Je ne regrette rien (Yet).
    Jonathan Cobb
Jonathan was born, but only because his parent decided they wanted a child more than a coffee table. Acting success soon followed, his 'Widow Twanky' stole the show (Gloucester Citizen). Unable to take the pressure, he left the world of the performing arts and has only just returned. Nowadays, Jonathan leads a strange double life. By day he may be found in an airport lounge, a nuclear power plant or a Balinese beach. By night he leaves those things behind to take to the stage.
