WEPS 88.9 FM Listeners can tune into the school district's radio station during the school year between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Except for major holidays, programs are broadcast from the studio in the district's Central Office in Elgin. On the air since 1950, the station's call letters stand for Elgin Public Schools and refer to a time when the district primarily served children from Elgin and the immediate area. Today, the station features several programs that are organized by students or community volunteers and target a variety of listeners. Highlights of the U-46 Board of Education meetings are broadcast at 3:00 p.m. on the day following the actual meeting. You can write to the station at WEPS, c/o School/Community Relations, 355 E.
