Leadership School Administrators Article SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS ARTICLE Principals Talk Tech: How Is Technology Integration Going? Are all your teachers aboard the tech integration express? Did a few miss the train? This week, the Education World "Principal Files" principals share their perspectives on how tech integration is going. For some, the obstacles loom large. Others are using special incentives to motivate teachers to join the technology team. Included: Tips for making technology integration happen in your school! If the Education World Principal Files principals are any indicator, about half of all classroom teachers use technology in valuable ways. Generally speaking, schools are doing a good job of integrating technology. However, a close look at the grades principals gave to their tech integration efforts reveals that although some principals give their schools an A, too many principals have rated their schools' efforts as C or D.

Year after year, graduating seniors in Interdisciplinary Studies say the high level of accessibility of their professors is what they value most about their UW-Green Bay experience. Our students enjoy the same quality of teaching and one-on-one access as their on-campus counterparts because the same UW-Green Bay faculty who teach on campus also teach the Extended degree courses. Currently, about 35 UW-Green Bay professors from an array of disciplines teach in the Extended Degree Program. Breznay, Peter T.

NCSL's 2002 Fall Forum will be critical and exciting in several respects. It will mark the transition from the old to the new committee structure-and will give participants plenty of opportunity to learn more about the new committees and help shape their planning for the coming year. The meeting also will occur just weeks before the beginning of most state legislative sessions and of the new 108 th Congress. The Fall Forum will look ahead to the issues that will dominate the agendas for state legislatures and Congress in 2003. It will also give legislators and staff the latest information on recently passed federal initiatives that they will need to implement in the coming months. Wednesday, December 11

Return to Mentoring Information Categories List The author of this web site has been keeping track of state-level mentoring programs for years. During that time I have seen that it's: 1. Difficult to draw conclusions about the sum of state-level novice teacher programming, because it is in constant flux 2. Possible to look at state level activity from several different perspectives, because of the various and complex themes that weave through beginning teacher support systems. This report takes one view point in presenting and analyzing the patterns in state-wide mentoring and induction programming. That approach views mentoring on a continuum in which assistance of novice teachers is at one end of the continuum and assessment of novice teachers is on the other end. Necessarily, that perspective "colors" how this information is presented and analyzed. What is presented here is:
  • A chart summarizing some of the studies and illustrating the changing picture described above, plus references to all the studies I found.
