TURTLE ISLAND PROPHECY THE DREAM THE MYTHOLOGY THE REALITY by Dee Finney 3-20-01 - DREAM - I was in my 16th St. house with my kids who were all under age 10. I was planning to go down into the basement and clean and do laundry as I usually did. My son Michael came home from somewhere and said that he had gone to a rummage sale and fell into a well. He wasn't hurt so I let him go do whatever he was going to do, but knew we'd have to tell his Father when he came home. My husband then came home from work, and he was no sooner in the door, he said he was leaving again to go out to the west of town to Mosely or a name like that to get the stakes I needed for my garden. He said his friend had 30 of them. I told him that was great. I told him I could get by with a minimum of 10, but 30 was even better. After he left, I wondered why he had driven all the way home from work to tell me about the 30 stakes, when it would have been so much closer and faster to just go get them from work, but I let that thought go to go do my own work. My son Michael was sitting on the sofa playing a war game of some kind on the TV. I was curious where the rummage sale was that he fell into a well, so I asked him about it. He answered, "It was in the coal bin downstairs."

Tragedies and Comedies
Imre Madách: The Tragedy of Man • Tragédia-jegyzetek (Tragedy Notes) • Géza Bodolay: A magyar mennyegzõ (The Hungarian Wedding) • István Tasnádi: Titanic vízirevû (Titanic Water Show) • György Spiró: Honderû (National Mirth) László Babarczy, who directed this adaptation for the Csiky Gergely Theatre of Kaposvár, could safely assume that the audience was familiar with similar cases from the press and television. The book has lost none of its topicality since its original publication; indeed, after the Communist intermezzo-with the revival of true parliamentary democracy and a market economy-history seems to have picked up the thread remarkably easily. This is all emphasized, when the relatives asking for money call out to Chief Prosecutor Kopjáss from the auditorium, clambering up the stage from there, while he occasionally walks to the front of the stage, so as to peer into the future from a tiny wrought-iron pulpit in the manner of a man who is satisfied with his prospects. By recalling similar "cases" from their own experience, the audience theatrically, or mythologically if you like, relives the situaiton and judges accordingly. The allegory forms only the tip of the iceberg; the irony of Titanic Water Show delivers its impact below the water line, with the precise characterization and verbal mannerisms of the figures, which graphically express the mentality of the age, its delusory mythology based on commercialism. Tasnádi's stylistic armory spans from cabaret wit to vulgarity. But only one half comes from the text; the other half is from the actors of Bárka Theatre, directed by Eszter Novák.

WAS HUNGARIAN THE LANGUAGE OF
THE ANCIENT EASTERN CULTURES?
by
The state of the current research.
According to current scientific view, two languages flourished in the Ancient East in the millennia BC. It is believed that one originated somewhere north of the Tigris and Euphrates valley, and came to full bloom in Szemúr Sungod's country (Sumer, Sumir) where it became the literary language. It is also believed that it spread from Sumer toward the southern part of the country and later to the east all the way to the Mediterranean. The other language that flourished at this time, the language of the Ancient Egyptians is believed to not only have been the spoken language of the Nile-region but also the language of southwestern Africa. After the Egyptian kingdom was firmly established (1500 BC), it spread toward the great bend of the Euphrates river and Syria. Both languages are believed to be the world's oldest languages. ("The language of the hieroglyphs is perhaps the oldest in the world." - Brodrick M. Morton A, A Concise Dictionary Of Egyptian Archaeology

The growth of Hungarian literature was influenced by the need to establish the Hungarian language in a written form, by national history, and by foreign literary trends. Latinizing of the culture after Hungary's conversion to Christianity delayed the rise of an indigenous literature, and the Hungarian language was first used to translate religious matter, the earliest known text originating around 1200. Increased translation of religious texts and of the Bible during the Reformation as well as a growth in nationalism sparked by the Turkish invasions gave impetus to the development of a literature written in Hungarian. These factors and the influence of humanism helped to produce Hungary's first true poet, Balint Balassi, and the epic poet Miklos Zrinyi. From the mid-18th century to the 1848 War of Independence, literary growth was accelerated by the Enlightenment, romanticism, and opposition to the Habsburgs. Authors' attempts to promote literature and nationhood gradually bore fruit. Gyorgy Bessenyei founded a learned society; Ferenc Kazinczy led successful efforts at language reform; Karoly Kisfaludy founded the Aurora; and newspapers and other journals flourished. The Academy was created in 1830, the National Theater in 1837. Sandor Kisfaludy, his brother Karoly, and Milhaly Vorosmarty revived Hungary's past. The poets Sandor PETOFI and Janos ARANY and the novelists Jozsef EOTVOS and Maurus JOKAI raised poetry and fiction to new heights.

5. Bible and Mythology - Nude Compositions
The role-playing portraits might grow into multi-figure compositions or hidden portraits may appear in costumed scenes. Gyula Derkovits got the theme of his Last Supper from the Bible, and placed the human figures, forced into rectangular forms, in front of an arcaded landscape rendered in expressionist style. The early Derkovits artworks bear the footprints of the cubo-expressionism of the 1910s, while the use of bluish-reddish colours and the cubistic form creation show the influence of Kmetty's art. Kmetty's rigorously symmetrical picture entitled Sermon on the Mount Pécs Artist Circle member Henrik Stefán's painting titled The Samaritan also draws its theme from the Bible. This New Testament parable inspired a number of other contemporary artists: from among the neo-classicist youths who had visited Nagybánya, Dávid Jándi and Vince Korda also worked out their own adaptations of the story, and we know of pictures carrying this same theme from Ernõ Jeges who had worked in the Bicske colony of artists and from one of the most outstanding representatives of Croatian neo-classicism, Sava Sumanovic,

173 KByte To my utmost surprise, I hardly managed to get a ticket for Zsiguli Sunday evening, an enthusiastic full crowd snickered through the 80 minutes with abandon. It happened that a few laughed even before the pun just like when kids adjust their mimicry to the promised joy. The pure presence of András Szõke was a bliss for those awaiting him; had he been chewing gum for 80 minutes in front of the camera, his fans would be provided with the same unencumbered pleasure. With some malice, I could say that he has been chewing gum in the same posture for over 10 years, but this would be unfair to the many filmic and social merits of the director, which meant particularly lot to audiences in Hungary in the late 1980s and the early 1990s, referring to a clientele wider than a fan club enumerating a few hundred infatuated viewers, part of which I had the chance to meet now. Zsiguli dé javu Zsiguli Mediocrity presented by standard characters, reappearing elements is indeed a phenomenon worthy of presentation on film even in our much suffered homeland, yet the terms of provincialism have changed in the meantime, and it is not certain that the same should be said in the same amount and the same manner as ten years ago. We should not view all from the playground in Taliándörögd (main location of a summer festival by Lake Balaton), we should not wallow in private mythology (that also fledged into national mythology for a decade whether we face it or not), and we should not continue with the same game with eyes closed as if nothing has happened since the change of regime.
