Other useful works on human rights are located at the Wilson Library and the Bio-Med Library. Use MNCAT, the library catalog, to find relevant books and documents. To find periodicals and UN documents, however, you will need to use specialized indexes such as the Index to Legal Periodicals, LegalTrac, and AccessUN. Many human rights works are shelved on the third floor of the Law Library around the call numbers K3240. You will also find other human rights materials in the Human Rights Library, which is located in the back of the third floor, in the corner farthest from the Library entrance.

Coalition to Address International Hearing on Discrimination against Immigrant Workers in the U.S.
Testimony to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights illustrates threats and fear of retaliation that follow undocumented workers. "This hearing marks an historic opportunity for claims of violations of international human rights in the U.S. to be heard and considered by an intergovernmental body,” states Camilo Perez-Bustillo, director of human migration and mobility at the AFSC. The issue of excluding undocumented workers from full [labor] protection[s] of their labor rights stems from a controversial U.S. Supreme Court ruling in March 2002. In Hoffman Plastic Compounds, Inc. v. NLRB, the Court held that an undocumented immigrant who is fired for organizing in defense of his or her rights is not entitled to compensation for lost pay. The American Friends Service Committee is a Quaker organization that includes people of various faiths who are committed to social justice, peace and humanitarian service. Its work is based on the belief in the worth of every person and faith in the power of love to overcome violence and injustice.

Labor Standards and Human Rights: The Case of Chinese Workers Under Market Socialism
Anita Chan
I. Introduction
The world has been awed by China's rapid economic development, labeling it "the latest Asian miracle." Some writers predict it will be the world's biggest economy in the next century. However, they generally do not mention that millions of ordinary people, mostly workers and peasants, will not be able to take advantage of this economic boom. The problem goes beyond workers not getting their share of the pie. Arguably more troubling is the fact that the fundamental labor rights of increasing numbers of workers are being seriously violated, in breach of the People's Republic of China's first-ever Labor Law of early 1995. [End Page 886] Human rights literature usually does not mention labor rights or, if a link is drawn on paper, the reference is normally to "labor rights and human rights"the underlying assumption being that labor rights are not subsumed under human rights. Evidence is presented in this article to show that labor rights are indeed a form of human rights

Regular reading of a major international newspaper (e.g., New York Times, Washington Post, Guardian, Times of London, or Le Monde) is strongly recommended. The course requirements consist of one research memorandum on an international human rights law topic (10-15 pages) and a three hour self-scheduled final exam that may be taken at any time during the final exam period. Both will be blind-graded (students will be identified by number, not by name); each will count towards 40% of the final grade. The remaining 20% of the grade will be based on class participation and attendance.

VI.CONCLUSION
I. Introduction
The history of Northern Ireland as a distinct polity began in 1921 when the six counties of the north of Ireland were partitioned from the twenty-six counties of the south. The seventy-seven years that followed this initial partition saw what is commonly referred to as "The Troubles," a term that masks a state of affairs tantamount to civil war. The Troubles produced a wide range of civil and human rights violations at the hands of state actors as well as state collusion with paramilitaries. Violations included verbal abuses and threats, torture and cruel punishment, systematic violations of the right to fair trial and other issues of justice, and finally a considerable number of violations of the right to life.

It will review two significant publications for research on human rights in Latin America and it will then discuss the general process of locating Latin American legal materials on human rights. A guide to the human rights mechanisms of the Organization of American States is followed by a brief introduction to the human rights organs of the United Nations. The paper concludes with three lists: 1) a bibliography of monographs and articles published since 1979, concerned with human rights in Latin America; 2) Latin American law collections in the United States; and 3) organizations concerned with human rights in Latin America. This is a revision of a document prepared for presentation at the 1992 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Law Libraries. It may be reproduced for non-profit educational use if this notice appears on the reproduction. This paper was originally produced in 1992, prior to the INTERNET and the explosion of information it has engendered. In updating it, I have tried to create links to online materials on indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities rights under international law. This paper is not meant to be a comprehensive guide to information on indigenous people. It is meant to be a guide to researching international law and indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities rights. This paper was originally delivered as part of a program on indigenous peoples rights. Other speakers, Professor George S. Grossman , and Professor Kirke Kickingbird , covered American Indians. Because of that, this paper's coverage of American Indians is limited. In 1996, Professor
